Interesting .... mine runs out in 10 days time and mine also struggles to open and sometimes it too freezes. When I check for updates it says there isn't any which is odd as there usual a few.

why don't you guys try something else, like AVG (free), avast, nod32? norton sucks! what do you use? at work, AVG (I have xp). it's the best one, works great at home, I have w2000 and had some kind of issue/incompatibility with another program I couldn't identify and AVG. I didn't get the pop up info on the files, like when you roll the mouse over a file and it tells the type and size and stuff, or when you place it over the time at the task bar and it pops up the date. so I installed avast. no problems so far if you guys want to keep using norton, here's a little tip: close your internet connection. uninstall it completely (including live update and stuff). change the year in your date configuration. i.e. 2017 install the 2006 version again. change back the date. and update ONLY the virus definition. and do this everytime you update it. of all the things that are listed update only the virus definitions. but I highly recommend avg

I use Avast, and it's fantastic. I've also heard only good things about AVG. But Norton? It's worse than the viruses & bugs it's meant to prevent! (And Zonealarm firewall, if you don't have it, download it)
