 Right, all of a sudden itunes and youtube will not play audio. i click on the little speaker in the bottom right corner and is says...there are no active mixer devices available. go to control panel to install the hardware?  !!!! windows media player will still stream and windows start up sounds will still play what the fudge is goin on?

 its really weird. i can play songs thru ares and play songs thru windows media player. some audio (itunes/myspace/youtube) just doesnt work. ive tried re-installing the audio drivers and have done a system restore but nothing.

it happens to me sometimes, i just go to creative mixer to test speakers and press default, doubt you've the same as me but try something similar

Have had a look around a few forums and this seems to be quite a common problem.
See when you say you re-installed the drivers, did you use a disc that came with your PC or soundcard?

i installed it from the cd-rom i got with the laptop with all my drivers on it.
its so weird, i got back from eggys, it worked for about 10 mins. came back to my computer then nothing

it seems to be only a problem with streaming audio on some pages so maybe you should try using another browser or changing some setting on your firewall

also, does it happen with all flash files? maybe there's a problem between the flash player version and your sound card driver.

well it doesnt work with headphones if its itunes things that work - windows media player (both stream and my personal files) things that dont work - myspace youtube itunes it just happend so suddenly. got back from eggys and it was playing, then it just stopped half way thru a song |

its a fujitsu siemens laptop
i got it insured when i bought it so i might just drop it down the stairs and get a new one.
hopefully, theyll give me the money. cost me £1000 when i got it 2 years ago. now you can get one with the same spec for half that.
