I was on the computer earlier today and switched it off as normal before I headed off to football. When I came back I started it up while I had a shower, when I returned to the computer all that was on it was the desktop wallpaper. No Icons, No Start Menu, no time nothing! I've got the internet running through CTRL+ALT+DELETE>Task MAnager>File>New Task>Browse>My Documents Anyone know what I can do to restore things back to normal? I'm just praying that thing will go back to normal coz its real annoying trying to access things. I just don't want to face life without a desktop not even a clock or tasktray or msn Even when i minimilise the window it goes to the bottom cornor of the screen.

if you have winxp press F8 before it starts loading and you'll have a startup menu. choose "last known configuration"/"last good configuration" or something like that. it might work correctly afterwards. if you installed something before windows cracked you may not have it anymore.

Sounds like what this helpline dude thought I had before when my laptop was fucked (was actually the hardrive!) looks like a spftware problem, so maybe restore back to a date, yesterday?

Ive been doing some digging around about this and with most software issues (especially windows ) it could be one of a number of things causing this.
