Does anybody out there have the technology or know-how on how to cross-fade tracks? I am trying to finish my own, edited down version of Be Here Now that I'm making on my MD player. The whole thing runs about an hour and has some of the longer instrumental passages and over-the-top guitar solos taken off. But what I'd really like to finish the album is to have The Masterplan on there at the end. Is a fan's wish I know, and I have it on there anyway without cross-fade, but this is something I would like to try to make it perfect.
So basically what I want to do is cross-fade these two songs so that as AATW(R) fades out, with the sound of someone walking away, you hear Noel and co's conversation come in from the start of The Masterplan ("Come on, get the count in. Where is it?!") so that AATW fades out before the boot slam and then guitar and strings of The Masterplan kick in. Want it to be the sort of A Day in the Life of BHN, a great tune at the end.
Is anyone out there able to do this, or knows how to do it? I would give mad respect and karma to anyone who could help!!
Cheers all.

I'm sorry I am not technically minded in THAT way.. I will forward your query on to a friend of mine though, he masters and edits music up in Manchester so he should have some idea!! (will post what he says if I see it helping you). Is there any chance you could post the finished results? I know loads of people would love to hear an edited down Be Here Now!! "Be Here Now Remastered" has been folk-lore for too long now!!

I'd give it a try mate, if people were actually interested. Would have to find a way to get the tracks off MD and on to my computer but I think a friend of mine might be able to do that. Appreciate the help, cheers!

Appreciate the help, cheers! Yeah I have the same problem with trandferring stuff from minidisc to pc. Quality always bad unless done properly, have a NETmd and Sonicstage which might offer a solution but not sure what format it converts to. May have a go later to see.. But I will let you know any solutions I am given (if any) from my mate and we all NEED to hear this remix of yours. May make some people realise Be Here Now rocks! ;D

I think it is 90% certain Be Here Now will NEVER show up sadly.. I e-mailed my friend - the sound technician person - but he has yet to respond so either he hasn't checked his e-mails or he isn't half as good as he says he is! I wish I could help you but as I said it really isn't my field. Have you tried posting the same query in 'The Blue Note' on this forum? That board is for musicians so they might know more. If my friend does respond I will put his reply (in full) on this thread. How did you remove the over-the-top solos etc out of interest?

Here's my idea: Find the program called AUDACITY and open 1 file and use the effects to face it out and then afterwards add the other and fade into it. The program is quite extensive and you can delete parts.
