DSL Question-- up to 384 kbs or whatever good enough?
SBC DSL says that since I'm 15,000 something away from their Central Office-- that they can only offer me their starter package, and that will only give me up to 384 kbs. Is that good enough? Or should I wait?
Can someone let me know because I'll be signing up for 1 year, if I do it. Their month to month is too expensive.

My ADSL has a 512 download speed, and 256 upload. Thats average really for DSL unless you go up to the 1meg+ category 384 sounds ok to me! I'm completely estimating here but i'd guess you'd get a final download rate of around 45 k/s max. im not an expert though!

I'd agree with DS, I've also got a 512 connection and its fine, depends what and how much your gonna be downloading I guess. If your gonna be mainly usinng it to download mp3 size files then its ok.

mine is 512 too. i had a 756 (something like that when i had freeserve) and that was really fast. but 512 is ample.
