Hi. I tried looking up guides on the computer but I still have a lot of questions. Basically, I'm trying to get DSL but I guess I need a network card-- because the USB thing won't do-- so I have to open up my comp and install the card thing in the PCI slot. Any tips, useful information, links to detailed instructions (I lost my manual), etc. would be extremely helpful and very much appreciated.
I have a crappy old computer-- it's a Dell Dimension L700cx. Here are some of my questions:
* Will I need any special equipment? Or will a regular screwdriver do?
* Do I have to do anything special not to damage the computer? For example-- I read something about touching metal so I don't make static or something-- can someone please explain that better?
* Is there anything else I should know?
Thanks.

You should probably use one of those anti-static wrist band things any time you fiddle about with a screw-driver inside your machine, but you should be ok if its just a card your sticking in there. Try and do it in a room without a carpet just to minimize the risk of static aswell if you can. One little static charge can goose your mother-board.

Thanks. I just have a few more questions. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
1. What's the diff between NIC cards and ethernet cards? Which one should I buy?
2. Are some incompatible with certain DSL modems? If so, how do I find out which one to buy?
3. I read on a website before you get DSL-- that you should ask your ISP if their central office is within 15,000 miles or something? Is that right? Help.
