ok, I just got a computer from my Grandfather, and it has Windows ME installed, and I wanted XP, so I used the XP reinstall disc from my parents computer, and it says I need to register it within 30 days with Microsoft or it will stop working, is there any way around this? as I imagine that they will see that the copy of XP is already in use on my parents computer.... any suggestions? Please help. Cheers! Rob

You can install that copy of XP on your PC without any worries. What would happen of you bought a PC which came with a version of Windows and sometime in the future you bought a new machine. Would that mean you couldnt install the version of Windows you paid for with your original machine? NO! Just go ahead and register it my friend.

ok, well I got the XP installed on this computer, and when I go to register it with Microsoft, it says that my COA (same # as the XP used on my parents computer) is invalid to use on more than that computer... any ideas anyone? Thanks!
