Godfather actor Al Pacino has been named the greatest film star of all-time, just ahead of his co-lead in the second movie, Robert De Niro.
Oscar-winner Pacino, 63, topped a poll of the 100 greatest film stars for a two-part Channel 4 programme.
Top Briton in the list is Sir Anthony Hopkins - acclaimed for his screen performances as serial killer Hannibal Lecter.
Runner-up De Niro has appeared in classics including Taxi Driver and The Deer Hunter. He played Pacino's father in The Godfather II, winning one of his two Oscars for the role.
The highest charting non-Oscar winner is Harrison Ford, loved by audiences for his performances as Han Solo in the first three Star Wars movies.
At 32, Scottish star Ewan McGregor was the youngest actor in the top 10.
Not one woman has made the top 10. Breakfast At Tiffany's star Audrey Hepburn is the highest woman, charting at 13. North By Northwest and An Affair To Remember star Cary Grant is the highest deceased entry at number 10 in the list.
Recent British Oscar winner Catherine Zeta Jones is unplaced but her husband Michael Douglas came in at number 100.
The list of candidates was compiled and edited by a panel of film critics and film-makers with voting taking place on the Channel 4 website and by text messages over a six-week period.
Here is a list of the top 10:
1. Al Pacino 2. Robert De Niro 3. Tom Hanks 4. Kevin Spacey 5. Harrison Ford 6. Jack Nicholson 7. Anthony Hopkins 8. Sean Connery 9. Ewan McGregor 10. Cary Grant

i think the top 7 are right. all my faves are in there but i think De Niro is the best. and i'd have Jack a lot higher up
kevin spacey is brilliant but i've only seen 3 or 4 of his films so i would'nt put him at number 4
i thought julia roberts would have made the top 10. no way i'd have ewan mcGregor that high up. although trainspotting is so good ;D

I just saw that guy for the first time sunday night. What a trip. ;D Can't see how he would make the list though. I like Nicholson over Hanks, shocked he is lower on that list. Ewan Mc Gregor??? Not sure there....

Here is a list of the top 10: 1. Al Pacino 2. Robert De Niro 3. Tom Hanks 4. Kevin Spacey 5. Harrison Ford 6. Jack Nicholson 7. Anthony Hopkins 8. Sean Connery 9. Ewan McGregor 10. Cary Grant Hmm, seems pretty good, although I believe Kevin Spacey should be higher, as for Tom Hanks. To be fair though, I think you could put the top 4 into a hat and draw them out for positions, and whatever order you got, it wouldn't be far off. No offense the McGregor, but I don't know if he has proved himself to be quite that high, sure he is good, but thats the only one I would question.
