I have been to a few Dead shows and have always enjoyed their music. Even though they are still touring, it isn't the same without Jerry. I am not sure if anyone outside of the states has the same admiration for them, but I will say they were a band with great longevity and some great tunes. ;D

course its not the same with jerry. He was the soul of the band. The dead are simply the best touring band ever. I love thier studio albums but thier live records are so much better. Jerry was also one of the best guitarist.
Thats quite cool you got see the dead a few times, i never had that luck. When i lived in the states i was to small to be going to gigs and didnt even know who the dead were.

i like the dead, american beauty is a great album. it goes without saying that they're not that good without jerry but warren haynes was a great choice. he was great with govt. mule and the allmans.

Speaking of Govt Mule...I have seen Chris Robinson play with his band New Earth Mud and Warren was up jamming. What a fantastic guitarist. Yeah the Dead had some great tunes which I occasionally break out depending on my mood. Foolish Heart, Ripple, Box of Rain, Hell in a bucket, Sugar Magnolia...just to name a few of my favs. Lyrical genuises to create so many amazing songs..

I picked up Workingman's Dead the other day and need to get American Beauty, then I'll have all the Dead I'll probably need.
Not that familiar with their work, know the popular songs.
I read a biography about the band a couple years ago...apparently, at one point Jerry forgot how to play guitar and had to relearn all the guitar parts. Crazy shit.
God bless.
