Staggering out of Sunderland (fast establishing itself as the UK’s new weird pop frontier) with some of the most brilliant pop music you’ll hear all year, The Futureheads make highly-strung oddball rock in the vein of The Jam, early-Wire and the new wave bands of the late 70’s - XTC and Squeeze. Their debut single ‘Carnival Kids’ embodies the Futureheads' blitzkrieg spirit: less than two and a half minutes of thorny guitars, building to a crescendo of - erm - yodelling. The Futureheads are the in sound, from way, way out there. Consider this a ‘Heads up.
