Pitchfork being what it is, I don't think many of us saw a 7.1 coming. I'm not saying 7.1 is the new benchmark. A benchmark would be an assumed minimum. But i do now think that it is possible for him to get higher than 7.1. I suppose because of how extreme they can be makes them a very unreliable gauge of music. I don't really trust them and therefore there opinions don't really mean anything to me, not that they're wrong in this case Only if AYW got a 7.1 it would be creditable for you I bet

Yeah, I know... a day late and dollar short once again! I thought that I was being generous with the 5.8 but I guess Noel is now a darling of the Pitchfork set. So if AYW got 4.9 and you said 5.8. You agree with Pitchfork that WBTM is better

Never heard any of these songs on the radio here in Canada. Big singles, not having it I've given up on listening to the radio for the past few years, but I feel like the last new Gallagher releases I heard the Edge or Indie88 play were The Roller and If I Had A Gun. I could be wrong and hope I'm wrong, but I feel like they just play Oasis rather than any solo Gallagher stuff, which is a shame. Have you heard anything newer? The radio stations are crappy these days. I heard holy mountain driving to Toronto a few weeks back. Never heard any beady eye or Liam yet. NGHFB first two albums I heard a few times, not in a while tho. Oasis every day tho. FM 96 played Gas Panic not to long ago, which was the first time I heard that.

There were no gurantees regardless of who Liam brought in the album is still at least half his work, had it been shite the marketing would only get you so far. Its interesting how a lot of people gave him no hope and now its like it was a dead cert to do well. The three big singles (Wall of Glass, FWIW, Chinatown) were all written or co-written by songwriters, which definitely did a lot in terms of public reception. He did write some good stuff, no doubt (my favorite on AYW us Greedy Soul and that's just Liam) but bringing in those guys for the singles really reduces the risk of failing. Never heard any of these songs on the radio here in Canada. Big singles, not having it

Alright...it's 12:09 AM. Should I listen now or wait and see if my record store has it in the morning? That's the only thing that's holding me back. I really want to listen to this the first time on vinyl, but there's no guarantee they will have it... The official store doesn't seem to have the download ready yet either, although I can listen to it on Google Play Music. Listen, it will be worth it. On the radio tonight it sounded amazing. Great production.

A fascinating interview as expected. I thought one of the most revealing things was when was he talking about fans thinking If I Had A Gun and Dying of the Light were overproduced and then his annoyance that some were saying Dead in the Water should have been properly recorded. Surprised me that he took notice of those remarks and suggests he has a thinner skin than I thought in regards to reactions to his music, which is all too clear when you think if his previous comments about Guardian reviews and the like. Shines a whole new light on the "parka monkeys" thing as well. Big Brother 😁

When Noel sings the promise land, it reminds me of Neil Young so so much

Noel’s not right about Radiohead. But bang on about artists not writing their own music. Fake Music. I rather see a unattractive singer who is brilliant artist and writes their music then some pretty boy or women who doesn’t write. How could you be proud of singing other people’s songs and pretending that you wrote it. I’ve heard this argument often over the years and it’s never made sense to me. Elvis, Sinatra, Aretha, Joe Cocker rarely wrote their own songs. On the other hand I’m pretty sure Creed and Limp Bizkit did. A great song is a great song regardless of whether its performer wrote it.. And a crap song is still crap regardless of whether the performer wrote it. But , The Beatles, The Stones, The Who, Led Zeppelin, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Pink Floyd and Radiohead did. And these bands/artists have more credibility and better songs, albums in my eyes. So many fake groups come and go since I’ve been around who have had song writers, have a big hit/album, last 2-3 years, then their replaced by a younger better looking singer(s). The cycle starts all over again. It’s worst now then it’s ever been. They’ll never be remembered as a real artists. Do you put those artists you mentioned better then the ones I mentioned? Do you put Ariana Grande, Selena Gomez and Brittney Spears are great musicians? They cannot even talk how a song was written.
