When you're a fan of Oasis and Noel in general as long as me it's very easy to see when he's pushing one of his quite manipulating stories so everyone around him goes along with his narrative. Yet again on Matt's podcast he's pushing the one that he was always so forward thinking musically and Liam held him back. Absolute nonsense. It was only around 2007 onwards Noel started to get bothered by those naysayers who'd call him derivative in his music and tastes. Before that he would gleefully tell you all he listens to is The Beatles, Stones, Bowie, T Rex and some Best Ofs. Fast forward to now and he can't wait to tell you how eclectic he is. Death Of You and Me was so musically different to Oasis that Liam wouldnt have accepted it? Dig Out Your Soul genuinely has more musically interesting moments than Noel's first solo album. The first HFB is Sardy Oasis to a tee. Who is he kidding with this shit? Matt Morgan and and Elton John maybe. Not any of us. I get part of your point but to be fair Noel was in the house and dance scenes well before his Oasis days. In fact I think that he twists more his own story than the Oasis one. He was doing Temper Temper, Teotihuacan and singles with the Chemical Brothers ages ago.

Now everybody tags Beady Eye as boring, uninspired, etc. The real thing is that a good chunk of the first album was very well received here, and that the second one was considered better than the first.
But also the first three Liam solo albums were very well received (specially the first two) and now ppl is saying this is the best he has done since Oasis. Wlall of Glass was extremely well received (and deservedly). Of course, it could be, but I think as time passes by some people will change their opinions.
This new song is OK but I don't find so Oasis-y at all. At least not as Noel's songs. Apart from melody, Noel was a genius in structure. Even in simple songs he always managed to introduce twists, to go from each chorus to different parts each time and thinks like that. This one is NOT that kind of song. And I have a strong feeling many people will discover that as time passes by.
And nothing happens because of this. Song is OK and it's great that some people is enjoying this so much.

Man, It is true that the song sounds like a Gem penned Beady Eye number with a touch of The Good Rebel. Expecting a lot more after hearing the good comments here. The album is shaping up to be Heathen Chemistry without the big hits. Well, HC is a great album. Yeah I like it but imagine it without Hidu times, Stop Crying, Little by little and Songbird...

Don't underestimate how necessary a 'yes' man was to fit in between those two and keep some peace. Imagine if they'd hired an 'artist' type with an ego as big as their own. Yes Men are a necessity for NG. People like the Staceys, Gem, Andy etc are more than happy to contribute largely to the songs and let Noel take full songwriting credit. People like Gaz Cobain, Real People…. Not so much and thus they are shunned. Squire would have been like more like these guys. Forget about The Real People. Gem and Andy made of Noel the songwriter he is.

One thing which bothers me a bit about Council Skies is that 2 of the big tracks rely on Marr’s playing so much they may as well be cowrites. I hope the next record has a big honest to god Noel song. I don’t even know what songs you are talking about. Co writes?

Who would have thought there would be some “Harrison style slide guitar”… This one is probably for the fans of the Tomorrow never knows style drums and the Rain style bassline. Never made before experiments all of them.

Kind of OK. That said, this kind of song was dated in 1997.

It's a shame it doesn't break in to something more after he sings "start a new", feels like its building then just stops. Nice little tune though. Totally agree. It seems it's ready to take off with a big chorus but it never does. It's... restrained. Nice melody though. It seems to happen a lot with Noel’s songs during the last years. Nice verses, nice bridge… then start again.

Wow, this is gold. So much better than the live versions where Noel's voice completely disappear. On point. Yes, better than the live version… and better than Mind games and most of Council Skies. I believe his judgement over the quality of his own work is even worst as time goes by. The best material he has released in the last years have been bonus tracks or Christmas gifts

Fake news!!! The greatest band of all time is either Tailgunner or Proud Mary. Followed by Spin Doctors or Bros. Then, Hurricane #1 and Heavy Stereo. And The Rain, of course.

If It’s better people was released as a single after Don’t look back in anger it would have been number 1 or close

Unpopular opinion; Council Skies is really not that good after a few months, bar a few tracks. I’m with you on this. It is ok but that’s about it.

“Two albums worth of material” 🙃 This usually means nine songs, two instrumentals and an inferior re-recording of a bootlegged demo from 2005 He’ll be recording them for the next five years, then scrap everything and release the demos with drums added by Sardy and Jeremy Stacey.

What about the ex-unibrow guitar player at his left. Will he join for the tour?

I've finally had time to watch it last night. A very good gig with a setlist with no surprises. He teased Stand By Me then went on to play Going Nowhere. He should have done SBM too, he's done it with the band already so why doesn't he play it? The Mighty Quinn is good but honestly it's a waste of time when you have such a huge back catalogue. Live Forever, Dead in the Water and DLBIA were incredibly emotional. And an unexpected highlight of mine was In the Heat of the Moment. Great live song! Seems like Dead in the water is becoming THE song of his solo career. Followed by If I had a gun.

While I'm not a Sardy fan, the production on If I Had A Gun is just fine. It's not awful like everyone says. Wow men you start strong. Here goes mine: Dead to the world is a weak song. Good singing, good instrumentation, but weak song.

still a great NG album for me - but please stop SCREAMING your heart out, mannn. specially during the verses can't stand these 'aaaaaaall' and 'awaaaaaaaaay's anymore love his vocals on all 3 covers from this tour. more laid back Totally with you about the screaming. I like better his singing in the concerts than in the album.

Alan white and bonehead will be dead certs , I’m not sure what gem would do he’s never been right since his accident and plays minimal parts . ? Gem is doing a great job (including most lead parts) in Noel’s band.

I think best scenario is adding Liam to High Flying Birds lineup. I've listened a couple of their latest shows and they are sounding great. Add Bonehead if he can in some of the shows and you have it.
