Interesting song choice. Council Skies, She Comes in the Fall, Riverman, and Black Star Dancing are obviously Noel's favourites. We’re Gonna Get There in the End, however, is not a single, not even on the album, doesn't really fit the storyline, and Noel has said he doesn't like it much and can see himself getting bored of it. Why didn't he use Think of a Number instead? or I'm Not Giving Up Tonight so it's 'ending on an uplifting note'.

I know he has a reputation for being extremely arrogant and he never really did anything to change that, but these kind of interviews show a side of him that people just don't see, or refuse to do so
He certainly had (and has) enough self-belief to put himself out there and push, and he's been bragging about his music and saying outrageous stuff in the press for 30 years, but there's much more to him than that
You can see he's very self-aware and sometimes you'd even say honest to a fault, and I'd say there's even a hint of self-consciousness I know people always point at him bame-dropping and embellishing stories and all that, but you also see how sincere and excited he is in his admiration for certain figures and how pure his love for music is He can be hard on himself, but he's also at peace with how things panned out and the idea that his best days are behind him but they happened and that's all that matters He knows his strenghts and played to them brilliantly, but he also ain't looking to hide his weaknesses And while I get the feeling sometimes the criticism he got (the lyrics, the plagiarism, just them being simpletons that make simple music) bugged him and maybe even made him question himself at times, he's proud of achieving what he did starting from where he did, and he knows that's special

Great interview but I wish his interviews would go into more depth about the 00s albums. Would love to hear his thoughts more on them but instead we only ever get to hear about the glory years again and again.

It was a very enjoyable interview, well filmed too. It could have been 3 hours long and I'd still be watching it without getting bored.

[geeky post alert!]By the way, it was nice to hear more background on his first meeting with Johnny Marr. In the interview Noel mentions that on the day after they met they went guitar shopping in Doncaster, with Owen Morris (!) driving. It must have been the 28th of May 1993, a Friday - three days before King Tut's. Noel also says that Johnny bought a batshit crazy 9-pickups Fender Stratocaster there... and suddenly I had a flash in my mind. We've seen that guitar, very recently. Johnny used it in the video for his single Spirit Power and Soul from his latest album and it caused a bit of talking among guitar geeks because it is frankly a crazy instrument No one had seen it before but Johnny had talked about it (mentioning Noel too!) to Guitar Magazine in 1997: It's such a bizarre coincidence that he bought it on his actual first hang out with Noel. Nice bit of history there. Here it is:

I liked a point he made about the Be Here Now tour and how many songs from that album were on the setlist. They did too much, then they did too little.

Inevitable a film of the BHN tour will come out. Nice! I haven't been able to watch the interview yet, could you let me know what he said about it? If stuff really will come out at some point then about time!

Would love to hear his thoughts more on them but instead we only ever get to hear about the glory years again and again. Yeah, I agree with you, after all it's all part of Oasis's history so those albums should be talked about more often too.

Agree with what others have said, it’s a great interview and actually offered a few extra insights to the early years however I thought for split second they were going to discuss the later albums in depth too but nope they discuss SOTSOG and then the other three get grouped together in a general conversation about the songwriting democracy which lasts about 2 mins.
Definitely think the most interesting part was his comment that a Be Here Now tour documentary was ‘inevitable’ which means some decent footage must exist somewhere…..

You think that MTV story is true? That they all just forgot and nobody got a hold of them?

You think that MTV story is true? That they all just forgot and nobody got a hold of them? It isn't the first time Noel talks about the story. I remember the Disney+ documentary of Abbey Road where he spoke about it.

Some of the YouTube comments are annoying me. You can tell the Gibson old timers and “shredders” don’t think he belongs as an Icon. Shred away into obscurity, ya losers. No one cares about your dumb “licks”. Write a simple song that moves millions and we’ll talk.

I think it was because he was taking a silly dig at the people who post videos of themselves playing guitar on YouTube. That was such a well done interview.

I was thinking he was looking a bit better in this so makes sense it was last year. Agree with the shreading comment above, I'd take a well written solo with melody over fret wanking anyday.

Music fans - all of us - we all exercise snobbery when the mood takes.
Great interview and that BHN documentary will be sensational.
