Although there's pretty much no competition in the 99% of the world (with few exceptions obviously, maybe Ireland?) Noel Gallagher will try to keep his "only number ones album" UK record against Foo Fighters this week. In 2022 we saw the Arctic Monkeys (and Alex Turner, considering he had 2 number ones album more than his bandmates) losing their record against Taylor Swift
Yesterday Noel was ahead of Dave Grohl's bands by 200 copies, it's very close.
Do you think he will keep his record? As much as I would love him to, I think Foo Fighters will overtake him. I believe the only reason Noel is ahead is from the massive pre-order boost of Day 1. I know it's quite nerdy stuff, and probably The Chief himself doesn't care (even though I think he'd like to keep number one)
Right now now:
Apple Music: NG #2 (was #1) - FF #3 iTunes: NG #2 and #4 - FF #1 Amazon UK: NG #2, 5, 16 and 20 - FF #1 and 14 Spotify: who knows, FF are way higher than Noel on daily top artists, but they also have huge hits that are probably still streamed more than the new album Record stores: who knows
Surely the UK tour starting straight away would've helped a lot.

Noel was behind on sunday and then recovered on monday, so that would suggest his daily sales are actually slightly better besides pre-orders But it's so close, who knows

Music Industry weekly paper today reported that after the 1st day Noel was ahead of Foo Fighters by only 4 sales (incredible). On monday Noel had 29,696 sales compared to 29,581. Currently, FF are ahead by less than 500 copies, and with better streaming numbers are the current favourites. However, Noel is dropping an NFT format tomorrow.
Apple Music: NG #2 (was #1) - FF #3 iTunes: NG #2 and #4 - FF #1 Amazon UK: NG #2, 5, 16 and 20 - FF #1 and 14 Spotify: who knows, FF are way higher than Noel on daily top artists, but they also have huge hits that are probably still streamed more than the new album Record stores: who knows Surely the UK tour starting straight away would've helped a lot. Anyway, Noel's numbers looks better than yesterday at 8PM UK time. Apple Music: NG #2 - FF #3 (same as yesterday) iTunes: NG #2 and #3 (+1) - FF #1 Amazon UK: NG #2, 5, 10 (+6) and 16 (+4) - FF #1 and 11 (+3))

As of today Foo Fighters are over 500 copies ahead of Noel. It might seems game over, but as per Noel's twitter account he already sold 700 out of 1000 NFT copies today. Obviously not all of them are from the UK, but it's pretty good
Currently, and compared to yesterday:
Apple Music: NG #2 - FF #3 (same as yesterday) iTunes: NG #2 and #3 - FF #1 (same as yesterday) Amazon UK (CDs, Vinyls): NG #2, 5, 10 and 20 (-4) - FF #1 and 16 (-5) Spotify UK Top debut albums 2-4 June: Noel #4, FF #2

If I order vinyl from Noel’s website does that count for USA or UK? Same for his NFT?

If you order it from Amazon.co.uk it will probably count towards the UK Chart, but I'm not sure Anyway, I think that with a stronger song - compared to Open the Door - to be released in the week leading to the 2nd of June Noel would have kept his beloved #1 spot

It’s funny. Foos are prob laughing at all of us. They’ve been cavalier about it all. Band and fans.

I just don’t think UK Foo fans care. We only cared slightly more than usual because Noel had the biggest streak in UK Charts history going It was a weird streak to begin with because Noel/Oasis obviously had compilations not go #1 and also go #1. But yet the streak continued. Same for his solo career.
