Alexis Petridis's argument is spot on.
And while I agree with D'Souza's comment that there's not one person who'd rather listen to Noel and Liam's solo efforts over the best of Oasis, their solo quality is still lightyears ahead of the mediocrity of post-90s Oasis. That's ultimately what we're up against, not the glory years, and I know what wins out every time.

Perhaps I'm clutching at straws, but could Noel... - Have written some songs that he knows only work with Liam singing, and thus are tucked away.
- Had a long break from writing Oasis style songs, so might be keen to try that style again.
- Just be up for a bit of wild fun while filling his pockets too

The first two Liam albums are perfectly good, I never really listened to album 3, wasn't for me.
But Noel's 3 albums and the EPs (which is a mini album in all but name) are all fucking good and a slew of those songs we wouldn't have got if Oasis had got back together so it was in a way for the better they split at that time.
And I'd say it would be stupid of them to get back together now except if they're willing to whore themselves out for cash - no judgement since I, and every one who works a day job, does exactly the same.
So it seems, I am one person who would often rather listen to some of the solo records A LOT more than the Oasis ones and, you know what, I'd bet I am far from alone.
Like the song says "To everything there is a season... Turn, turn, turn."
They have no unfinished business as a group and in my opinion it's absolutely fine to leave things where they are now.
If Matt Healy from The 1975 says there is no person who would rather a solo output than Oasis he's entirely wrong since I'd much prefer Noel keep putting out solo albums, and I would question whether he's ever listened to any of the solo albums before shooting his mouth off.

I would put the release of Come on Outside as a counterpoint to the secret Oasis stach. There's none, if there was Noel wouldn't have released it as the last song on a EP project.

Lucky you, but not for me. First two of Noel's albums were good, but I didn't really enjoy the 3rd or the EPs. 90s Oasis was all gold, and as much as it's criticised the 2000s albums still had great singles (Dig Out Your Soul aside), so even if they reformed and just gave us one album with decent singles then I'd take that.

Band reunions are never a good idea musically. Yes the band cashes in and another generation of people may get to see them live. But the real Oasis was the 90s, if you missed it then, you missed it. Let it be.

Noel already said he's written songs for Liam back when he was blasting Liam's team of songwriters. Can't remember the year but he said it. Edit: just read that article and the comments. Surprised at the sheer volume of negative comments, kinda thought Oasis stock had risen somewhat in the last few years, that the average Joe thought more of em. Mind they are are a bunch of miserable fuckers at the Guardian.

I really don't understand the negative feelings to post 00 oasis. Still absolutely phenomenal live and for me DBTT is the most mature album and my favourite era AND I was was there at the beginning first seeing them live in '94. Just my opinion, but I loved every second of the journey. However, I'm not sure about a long term reunion, but a live tour would be great.

I read that, too, but it's rather odd that it's claimed they discuss meeting for football or a walk in the park. Neutral ground or what? It's oddly specific!
You come to my house! No, mine! OK, how about we meet in the middle? Right. No weapons and no more than two companions each.

I dunno man I do feel like I’m warming to the idea of a reunion now. I do think Noel has the songs in him for another album.
This is the time before they’re too old, Liam is at the top of his game you could argue. Noel deep down has a huge respect for Liam, wouldn’t it be great to see them bond again and dominate the world once more
