I like making my own Liam album tracklistings and sometimes that means doing a little work... like taking out the 'once, once, once' middle bit of, er, 'once'.
so here's a cheeky edit of the new album opener without the highly annoying kids choir...

I actually like the choir in the song and don't find it annoying at all.

Creative title and I'm sure technically you did great but I don't see the point in removing the part that literally makes this song great and distinctive from most other LG songs. It would be like removing the Strings from the studio version of Whatever.

I love the choir and would never take it off the song.

I don't mind the choir at all! It gives the track a bit of contrast and I appreciate that. I gotta say, the lyrics on this song are strong. Can't say that for many of Liam's tracks. This song flows nice, the instruments sounds great, Liam sounds incredible.
I wouldn't change a thing.

I love that other people like the choir!
For me though, rather than it making the song great it detracts from it. More like if Lennon added a kids choir to 'mother' than taking the strings off 'Whatever' kind of thing...
also, it's just such a copy of 'You Can't Always Get What You Want' that it lessens the impact (for me). Maybe if spmeone hasn't heard that it might seem more unusual/innovative/surprising...
I get it as a kind of 'this will get those reviewers - they only listen to the first minute anyway, so they can't say 'beer' or 'terrace' for this... but it's a one-time gag (for me) that doesn't bear repeated plays (at least to the amount of plays a new Liam album get round my house

How is this such a big talking point... Its hardly a minute.
Really perpetuates the stereotype that Oasis junkies are philistines that can't see beyond those 4 chords.
(not slagging off the guy doing the edit, but more so how the general pushback against the choir and people coming out in droves complaining about it being weird).

no offense taken! I hate that lazy stereotype too, and in the UK it's basically the backbone of every oasis related-review.
But that's pretty much my point - the choir (imho) is only there to counteract that image, it's like a producers joke to put those stereotypers on the wrong foot. It's not that it's weird at all, it's a straight steal off The Stones and it doesn't really work as an integral, important part of the song.
Ultimately (for me) it's a gimmick that grates on repeated plays.
I think some of Liams stuff has been far more 'adventurous' than Noel's and not proclaimed as much for being so. But nicking the intro to 'you can't always get what you want' isn't pushing the envelope in any way.
In the end, it's great that fans can talk about new music and what they like or don't in a friendly way.

I like making my own Liam album tracklistings and sometimes that means doing a little work... like taking out the 'once, once, once' middle bit of, er, 'once'. Did you manage to do that? Lots of people, including myself, have been asking for it ever since "Once" was released. I don't see a video of that on your YouTube channel, but if you achieved the removal of those annoying "Once, once, once, once" I'd definitely like to hear it!

I totally get where you're coming from now that you've put it that way... different for the sake of it and hiding behind perceived experimentation. I don't think thats neccessarily whats happening here. The choir is a design choice that I bought into. I think it lays out the melody Kuleshov-effect style almost, I remember listening to it for the first time in anticipation and excitement for Liam to come in and nail the same notes. Judging from Liam's pitch for the album during press tour & interviews - it doesn't come accross like something intended to be gimmicky. Hes insisted that 70-80% of it is pretty standard from what I remember. Compare that to Noel outright dismissing a lot of listeners who weren't all for WBTM and subsequent EPs as morons before they'd even been released. I felt more jilted by the "weirder" tracks on WMWN in all honesty, mainly because of how short they were I suppose. Its like they just polished everything loads and added intricacies all over to justify the placement of the tracks within the album when really they're just fancily decorated fillers. The weirdness here feels more justified, embraced and rich, if that makes sense.

Wouldn't have minded a choir interlude in the middle of the album and then the choir at the end of Oh Sweet Children. I agree the choir does NOT come off as a gimmick. It add character to the song. Great way to kick the album off. Also think it could have worked as an album closer.
