Uncut Album Review: LIAM GALLAGHER C'mon You Know 6/10 Liam gets loved-up
Prior to Britpop’s take on Woodstock 2 at Knebworth, Liam's third LP tries to fight through the disappointed nostalgia which overtook both Gallaghers’ efforts long ago. There’s a new sense of maturity, even kindness, starting with “More Power”, a song of odd, regretful sentiments, reputedly addressed to Noel and full of family references. It essentially relocates “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” to Burnage, Liam’s vocal affectingly open. Songs mostly remain Frankenstein stitch-ups, though: Jeff Lynne’s softly simulated psych on the Threetles’ “Real Love” seems the production template, when not mixed for terrace power, minus tunes. archive.org/details/uncut-june-2022/page/25/mode/1up?view=theaterFor context they gave Why Me. Why Not? a 7/10.

If this can be called "review"... the writer shows even less interest than Liam to the album

This is why the 'music press' doesn't really exist anymore to all intents and purposes. Just read some of the others that the writers like... this is lazy, pointless writing that simply confirms a prejudice of liam (and oasis) held by many 'music writers' (terraces mention) and doesn't convey anything of interest to the impartial or avid reader... whilst mentioning the biggest single-artist led live event to hit british music for years! Tbh though I didn't even know Uncut was still going...

I think I’d rather them not do the review at all if that’s all they have to offer.

It's just typical of Uncut though as they don't like anything which Liam does. So I wouldn't take this review seriously.

Cheers for the heads up, Tiger40. Suggest we delete the thread and move on.

Certainly tells you very little. Seems like theyre too caught up in trying to sound clever until they realise theyve used up their word count or something.
Im not necessarily getting vibes they automatically hate him/Oasis, the way that, say Pitchfork do (giving a Blur album even Damon criticises a better score than Definitely Maybe and Morning Glory). But it wouldnt surprise me.

they're probably right....the saxophone & strings jam towards the end of 'C'mon You Know' has been the standout for me so far. On a bit of a loop for me

Imagine reviewing albums that are not out yet, just to make us form preconceived ideas. I've always found it a bit silly TBH

The reviewer had 100 words. It's a perfectly cromulent review-
TLDR- Liam fans will love this, not breaking any new ground.
