Interesting to read Richard Fearless saying that Liam was the one wanting the band to be more experimental during the AA sessions, as so far we've only heard Noel repeating that Liam was on the contrary resisting/vetoing any attempt at exploring new sounds.

Nothing new there, pal.
On one hand Noel wants to make it clear he was responsible for all the aesthetics of the band and on the other he wants to blame Liam for all of his limitations.
For example,Liam was responsible for not changing the set list up yet he tweaks his solo set every night now. Lots more example but best now to dwell on this and just enjoy Liam’s positive and adventurous spirit.

Yep Andrew Wyatt, a hired gun, could easily persuade Liam to experiment a little bit in his new album but Noel, the main songwriter, who made all the main decisions in the band somehow couldn’t? Did he even need Liams permission to write (and sing if needed) what he wanted? Laughable

^ I'm not saying you're wrong but did Liam turn up to do soundchecks? The phone videos taken from the DOYS tour posted on Youtube suggest he did not. Now that might be because of the ill feeling that started at the tail end of the DOYS recording sessions and how they badly fell out at the outset of the tour and never really recovered?
Like the photo on the banner of the two apart (a shot from Spin magazine in 2000 isn't it?) above there, maybe they couldn't stand to be in each others presence to do a proper rehearsal very much, and if they had tried harder it would caused further arguments.
One thing Noel said, we know he almost always exaggerates, is that Liam would forbid Noel from being in the room when he was doing lead vocals in the studio judging Liam's performances, and criticism had go to through Sardy who was referee / peacemaker when troubles broke out. Really, for all the shit we give Sardy, he shepherded two successful records, balancing the two titanic egos, who even despite best intentions, seem to constantly rub each other wrong, give each other offence and seem to frequently be at each other's throats for the slimmest of reasons.
Just my two cents, and to point out that nobody really knows what the deal is with the non-changing set lists in the latter Oasis days except the five members of the group.

I love the bit where Liam bumps into Graham Coxon and can’t even bring himself to say the word ‘Blur’.
In a corner of Liam’s mind it’s perpetually 1995 and the Battle of Britpop is still in full swing. He’s like that Japanese soldier who hid in a cave for 30 years and didn’t know World War 2 was over.

Noel's setlists have been unchanging since he went solo, I never thought Liam had anything to do with the setlists back in the Oasis days either; Noel made those decisions as musical bandleader.
Maybe also Liam & Noel didn't have the same idea about what "experimental" music should sound like when it came to recording in the studio...

Yeah, I agree with you about Noel's solo set lists he never hardly changes them. Where as Liam does, he'll bring in Oasis songs which either haven't been played for a while or songs which Oasis never played live.

It looks like I'll have to try Tescos to try and get this magazine as I couldn't get one in W.H.Smiths. They had every music magazine except for the latest Mojo which I was surprised by.

Are you in Australia? I also checked WHSmith at the airport in Sydney & Melbourne and they still had the March issue only… very strange

And, that's why I was surprised that W.H.Smiths didn't have it.

I finally managed to get a copy of this from Tescos. Mind you, I was lucky as there was only two copies left. I haven't read the Liam interview yet though.
