Love the phonics. Lots of people slate them as dad rock but I think they are so consistent and brilliant. Absolutely love them.
Help that I'm Welsh but that is irrelevant...

Ive never been an enormous fan of the Stereophonics, but the ones i like, I really like. And to me, this is without doubt one of their best.
I remember when it came out, i was about 10, and it was pretty much the song of its summer.

Off the three singles that made it out to my country(Dakota,Innocent and In The Moment) this one is the best one by far. The synth in the intro and the guitar with wah in the chorus are the two things that come to mind besides Kellys voice. Great song.

He ripped himself off with this, its basically Traffic played with a capo It's an alright song, it does infuriate me though when you go and watch them live and no-one knows any of the songs then all of a sudden their the biggest Phonics fan in the world when this kicks off (usually the last song )

When I went to uni in Ponty, I remember the phonics were heavily touted as the next big thing. There were free CD singles given out, and they were really pushed locally (as Cwmaman is only down the road).
The first album was great, and looking into it now, I realise it was like Oasis where they had written the songs over the previous 4 years.

Yeah i always saw Word Gets Around as their Definitely Maybe...in the sense they were never as working class, never as raw again after it. Although i do really like their second album as well (my favourite song of theres is probably Pick A Part Thats New).

I was lucky enough to see the Stereophonics perform acoustically here in the US right before J.E.E.P. was released. There were maybe a couple hundred people in attendance and this one drunk guy in the back kept yelling "play Live Forever!". After about the 5th time, Kelly started to play it and stopped abruptly, saying "Noel will kill me." I always assumed that it was half in jest -- not wanting do a bad job covering it off the cuff, but also afraid that Noel would actually be upset for some reason.

The Stereophonics' early stuff is great and I like most of their songs up until their recent songs.

The Stereophonics' early stuff is great and I like most of their songs up until their recent songs. I think most people tend to rate their first album as their best. Pretty much all their albums since have had generally mixed reviews. I personally find their first two albums their best two, and every album since ive liked some songs but not others.

I have a few of their albums but after Pull The Pin (which I don't think is a good album) I stopped buying any more of their stuff as I wasn't really a big fan of.

I know what you mean, ive heard a lot of people call that their worst album. I haven't listened to any of their albums in full since Language Sex Violence Other, but i remember Graffiti On The Train got a pretty good reaction when it came out.

They lost their way when Dakota came out. After that, they kept chasing that pop single again. Really great band and Kelly has the best voice in British RnR. Fact. He is streets ahead of Liam in that regard.

Indian Summer Don't Let The Devil Take Away Another Day Just Looking Off the top of my head. Love Kelly. Love the Phonics. Miss gigs, man.

Pretty much the same. Gigs are good though, I enjoyed the one in Vienna I went to (making up for the 2006 Stereophonics + Oasis gig from which they pulled out of). And I like Language. Sex. Violence. Other? as an album, too. I don't think they're ever gonna hit the sweet spot like they did with Dakota, that's a great, great song.

IMO Dakota is the only one off Language. Sex. Violence. Other? that has aged well, but they were all really good singles at the time.
Graffiti on the Train is just an OK album.
