Why is it a surprise 21 in sales is pretty decent, streaming is not Liam's or any 47 years olds game ...with zero promotion, it will continue to sell once that changes and he tours To not chart whatsoever is a massive surprise. Noel's streaming numbers overall are worse than Liam's and WBTM charted at 48 on the Top 200. As You Were and Who Built the Moon sold around 15000 first week in US. This album sold 4000

I wonder what the bottom of the chart looked like because 4,000, even with streams, feels like it should be enough to chart.

You should see the albums 200-100. Some real what the fucks.

People who leave comments "Act like you dont remember, you said' we'll live forever" under Noel's songs on youtube. This is proper bullshit, stop doing it.

It amazes me that Liam only sold 2k more than DGSS with this album. I know it was a better time for music in 2011 than it is now, but still. He took a financial hit back then for that first tour, how is he making decent money now if it's roughly the same?

75% if the Billboard 200 is currently streams that aren't in the traditional sales chart. Streaming has grown a LOT since WBTM came out. His next album probably won't chart because it's going to keep getting bigger for another few years.
They're weird because it's changed from being what teenagers and 20-somethings are listening/buying to include everybody else outside of that group.

It’s all about streaming. It’s not the future. It’s the now. All artists better get on board. Old timers can rely on CD and vinyl to pump up their opening week numbers but young bands and emerging acts better adapt. Even digital downloads - like iTunes - is also for old timers now, surely?

How did non-teenagers consume music in the olden days? Surely the streams/sales/downloads strategy is as representative of the consumption of music as the traditional charts were? And for the people who'd traditionally buy Noels/Liam's album in physical form, wouldn't they jump over to the streaming segment?

Yeah that shit is dead too despite being only 15-17 years old. That’s why Apple is pushing Apple Music hard and less about actually mp3s.

The album only sold 4000 copies in the first week in the States ?! That's fuck all. When you think Oasis sold 5 millions of copies of Morning Glory there, you wonder the percentage of them that still listens to the band/the brothers.

The Raconteurs album got to number 1 in the U.S. with 88,000 sales in a country with 327 million people in it. That shows how dead the market is over there.

It’s not really dead. People are listening to music more than every before and listening to a greater volume of material than ever thought possible. It’s just not in the traditional format we are accustomed to. They haven’t figured out a way to make money out of streaming. Well they have for the record companies but artists got a shitty deal which is what people like Thom Yorke and Taylor Swift were banging on about 3-4 years ago and everyone told them to shut up. Who is laughing now???

austriancharts.at/charts/albenNo. 15 in Austria. See, Liam, that comes from ignoring us last tour! Nah, kidding, that's actually pretty good, I'm just still flabbergasted that he got to no. 3 in Germany, as AYW did slightly better here (12) than there (14).

He took a financial hit back then for that first tour, how is he making decent money now if it's roughly the same? He's playing way bigger places now, he doesn't have to share the profits as the band is all salaried and he has major label backing. I'd bet my house that Liam has a 360 deal with Warner so they bankroll his tours, recording sessions, etc they get a cut of his touring revenues and merch.

BTW the album sounds amazing on bluray

I'm not a fan of the album but it's cool to see to see it doing well, in Europe anyway. A bit weird seeing Liam name being surrounded by mainstream dog shite when you look at the charts.
Does anyone have the sales figures from Asia and South America ?

Reminds me of when "Morning glory" was #1 & the Beatles' "Anthology" #2 in 1995.
