I've been to a festival when it's been boiling and it's pretty tough to keep going all the way through, and yesterday would have been even hotter so I can see why the crowd was poor. yeah it was incredibly hot yesterday (went off really cold in the evening) and it was really hot on friday as well. Its exhausting.
Plus you really can't get out of the heat when you are at festivals. Most of the people down glastonbury have been down there since wednesday morning. Only expected that they are probably getting abit worn out by now.
Liams placing also wasnt great imo because people are getting settled for the headliner. As ive posted before pendulum basically broke up as a result of the beyonce crowd when they had to play. Many probably didnt really care for Liam as they were there for the killers. Everyone is going to get wonderwall but its a different story when its universal gleam.

The gig was amazing. Not on the same level as last year's Finsbury gig, but very good for a festival slot. LIam's voice sounding great.

Universal Gleam has been drab from the get go. Get rid of it! It’s there until Once is ready, it’ll be switched out for the main tour.

I’ll try to find out why Cast No Shadow was abandoned. Noel's harmonies were what made Cast No Shadow so special live. Don't think the Babyshambles guy could quite pull it off.

That explains alot. I also thought his guitar sounded weak on wall of glass. Broadcast soundguy fucked it up.

Whoa 😯 there’s an embargo placed on comments directly to me about Drew on here 😀. But yeah, nobody would even attempt to replace Noel but he’s not gonna be singing those backing vocals anytime soon. Drew has a really good voice actually, I dunno what it is about Liam’s music that doesn’t bring it out of him. It is what it is.

So Janet Jackson overstayed her welcome, which put pressure on the timing for Liam’s set. The entrance was rushed, forced to begin before FITB outro with mixed instructions to the band in ears. They had to kill 7 minutes off, probably explains shorter versions and stuttered starts. Was still an amazing gig. Frustrating - thanks for the info.

I watched janet jacksons set, incredibly poor sound, literally couldn't hear her vocals at all. I don't think she really worked as a festival act tbh. Not that she was bad but it was more about dancing and producing a show than the actual music. guess timings are always going to be a problem at festivals, got so many to pack in with quick turnarounds needed in between. Only needs one person to overshoot abit and someone is going to have to cut their set down to get the timing back on track.

Let's face it: the only reason she was booked is that someone thought they might need another female act. She stopped being culturally relevant outside the US decades ago.

Because Liam started exactly when was scheduled and played exactly until scheduled too.

Fair enough, I had it on the iPlayer but genuinely think FITB intro started at 7:15 (latest 2 mins later). I don't think the set would have been longer than 16 songs even without the delay though? 16 songs in 1hr 15 is a cram anyway. Does explain the 'rushed' intro to RNS, I suppose. I really enjoyed the gig. Liam was on top form - especially at the start, think he had a little drink by the looks of it! Just pissed off with the same mistakes happening again and again with his band though. It's not up to scratch now.

This is exactly what I was saying to Oa during the gig - he didn't have the gain on. Not a surprise to see the BBC stitching Liam/Oasis up. They've been doing it going back to the mic swap on TotP in 2002.

Best performance of Columbia since 2002! It was immense. Faultless. I thought Liam was great but the band sounded like shit. Was moaning to Oa throughout it at the effects being all wrong, but Mike seems to have explained that. Fuck the BBC, licence fee war NOW.

I was watching it on iplayer and I was certainly waiting at least 5 minutes before FITB started cause I rushed back for 7:15 and it was still not on. at most he probably lost one song (maybe be here now) Liam certainly seemed abit out of it to me, he was slow in his talking and was doing odd stuff (hugging and kissing the piano over and over) so yeah. Probably been on the apple juice.
