No reply from the official store regarding not receiving The River digital yet. Me neither. I mean this is Fucking comical. Nice promotion Liam. When I emailed then I think it said it might take the 4-6 weeks to respond. What is this 1820’s Montana?

I was searching the lyrics on internet and found the following: "Lick your lips like a prize-fighter, surely you can take a punch" I've listened to the song a thousand times and I still can't understand "surely", but "show me" instead. Someone's native can help with? Sounds like "show me"

Good audio clip. Sounds great, it brings out the best in Liams voice when he is having to fight to be heard over heavy guitar.

When I heard it the first time it was a bit meh. It has really grown on me. Great tune, works very well in this sunny weather. Shockwave as well btw.

What I do not comprehend is how the album track, which I find to be pretty cool, is catching so much shit, and that abortion of a live version is being praised.

He got better as it went on. He got no where near the notes on the first couple of verses but grew in to it after that. I love both versions. Live version sounds more dirty. Wyatt really added something.

The live guitar was cool, but Liam just couldn't get there.

He did alot better with it live than I thought he would. Definetely grew into it like Rolo said.
Tell you what though, and I found this with AYW songs even more, doesn't that live guitar sound make you wish the studio version sounded more like that?
I totally get that they need Liams voice at front and centre of everything because that's why anyone is paying any interest. But i think its to the detriment of some of the solo songs at times.
Like the rhythm of that live version feels like it's swaying in and out of the sludge and Liam is fighting a 6 foot crocodile. Then that little bit before the chorus sounds 100x better live than on record, where it sounds slightly tame and almost a bit tacky.

Well it finally happened. Brie from the LG store wrote back to me. I got a link to both shockwave and The River. Victory is mine! Good luck to all getting a response.

I thought AYW sounded like a conscious decision to dial down the rock. I found that to be an odd decision. I like live guitars on the River, but I don't mind the production of the record version. I generally like a song that takes on its own identity in a live setting and the River feels like it has two legitimate lives. However, with a lot of the AYW songs (e.g. Greedy Soul), I feel that the live vibe is far superior. ps - I love your screen name or handle or whatever the children are calling those things these days.

Seems a bit weird that they send out links (to the complaining customers) and don't unlock the track in the accounts (for everybody). Maybe their store software isn't able to unlock additional tracks retroactively. Next time, they better check whether they'll be able to fulfil their promises before running a campaign

"The River" is a good album track with quality, but definitely not the song that i wanted to follow "Shockwave". anyway, "once" will put everything in its right place again

It'll be interesting to see if this charts in the top 100. No physical release and Glastonbury week will be tough going.

Quickly becoming one of my favourite post Oasis songs this. Liked it to begin with, then a day later once the buzz had calmed I thought it was a bit underwhelming. But now we've had some time with it, I love it. Can't stop listening.

Has anyone got a full or a longer clip of Liam's performance of this song in Barolo last night? I saw the end of the song and he had pretty much no problem hitting the high notes in the chorus/outro, but I really wanna hear how he did in the verses. He butchered the high notes at Glastonbury so I'm hoping for an improvement
