Wonderwall is Spotify’s most streamed nineties song I expected a Michael Jackson song in there somewhere I like how they say that the streaming revenues are not great, then follow by saying that Noel made 75,000 just last year from Wonderwall.... nevermind everything else. Haha.

Too right. Wonderwall IS a great song on its own, but I think it’s success also has to be put on the production of the record and the performances.
It is brick walled but much more sophisticated recording than was usually the case with the band. Noel’s subtle instrumentation like the little arpeggios in the verses and the ‘cello’ which is an e-bow (I think?) really do help the song flourish. Nothing more needs to be said of Liam’s amazing vocals but a huge shout out to Alan White’s fantastic drumming. A real collaborative effort in the studio from everyone.

the ‘cello’ which is an e-bow (I think?) Mellotron innit ;-) Ebow is that swooping / sustained melodic guitar guitar sound you hear in DLBIA

the ‘cello’ which is an e-bow (I think?) Mellotron innit ;-) Ah nice, is there not an e-bow somewhere in that recording (perhaps the other ‘strings’ - i.e. the final note of the recording?). Whatever the case, the cello and strings sound is always hypnotic. It gives it a sense of mystique to the song.
