Good win. That first half was crazy. Some great set pieces from England and some stupid defending by Panama. They surely know they can't get away with grappling in the box now. Lingard's goal was class. Nice to see Kane leading the golden boot at the moment. I wouldn't like to see too many changes against Belgium, let's keep the momentum going and try and get three wins out of three.

they can also beat belgium. just sayin Looking forward to England Belgium Depending what lineups both put out for a semi-meaningless match, I think England will get torn to shreds. 3-1 to Belgium,

If Japan wins group H(and Colombia finishes second), England - Belgium could be the most underwhelming(compared to expectations) game so far. Or they will compete in who gets the most cards*, which could be absolutely hilarious. Like when you were playing Fifa as a kid, trying to get all of your players booked just for the fun of it.
*As it stands, if the game ends up being a draw the group winner will be determined by fair play.

So they would be competing to getting the least amount of cards, not most which would either be the fairest game ever played OR the dirtiest if you’re trying to wind up your opponent (I.e, Diego Costa style). I’d rather face Japan than Colombia but either one should be winnable.

Not that it would happen anyway, but it's a fun scenario to think about. Obviously they are both winnable, but on a good day Colombia could(not saying would) definitely win it, while I simply can't imagine the same for Japan. If Southgate could choose, he would choose Japan in a heartbeat.

Both England and Belgium are resting their top players.
But there is an incentive in finishing top because Japan is a much easier opponent than Colombia (in theory, anyway).
Belgium are so much stronger, even with their weakened team, so I expect them to win. I’m sticking with a 3-1 to Belgium.

Both teams will be desperate to win now since they realise the risk of having to face Sweden in an eventual quarter final if they lose.

No, and here's why: The other alternative is facing Brazil in the Quarters (which is what I orignially predicted: England vs. Brazil Quarters - a rematch of the 2002 World Cup). So finish top and face Japan, but then Brazil in the QF or Finish second and face Colombia but then Sweden/Switzerland in the QF Finishing second doesn't look too bad now, eh?

I find it very curious as to how the ref officiates this match knowing that cards could be the decider in all of this! Belgium just got a deserved yellow as I typed this. funhouse

Alexander-Arnold is doing very well - whipping those balls in with pace. Nice to see!

Half Time: Both are going through the motions but Belgium have had the better chances by far.

Nice goal in all fairness.
No idea why Man Utd sold Januzaj. I’ve always rated him.

This is the best ever chance of getting to a World Cup semi final.
Columbia, Switzerland and Sweden will also be fancying their chances too however.
