To be fair if you listen to their first album it is a very solid record. In my opinion creating something that is still listened to 25 years after release is an achievement in itself. Whatever the Real People did with Oasis they never had the talent to replicate for themselves in my opinion. Noel is wrong, it's not all about the music. Liam is a very gifted frontman, he had the looks, amazing voice and confidence. That alone gave Oasis much better chances to succeed compared to The Real People.

Interesting you say that because, whenever I've heard a Real People song, I've thought it was shite. Especially that one that Don't Go Away "steals" from. Whatever the Real People did with Oasis they never had the talent to replicate for themselves in my opinion. Totally your opinion man but their first album for me is pretty solid if you listen to it without thinking too deeply about it. Window Pane is especially good and you can really hear early LG in the phrasing.

They just lacked that melodic sense Oasis songs do have. They might have meant something for Oasis, but I do think they get a bit too much credit sometimes.

I read somewhere that The Real People are just another in a long line of bands/groups/artists who Noel 'stole' from and didn't give any credit. The fact they got added to Rockin Chair and Liam is singing it live isn't a coincidence imo

I wonder if there are any pictures or video footage of The Rain from that pre Noel era

Noel talks about The Real People in this interview:
Having listened to The Real People and the Oasis songs made with them and before (I love "Colour my Life" and "See the Sun") I have to say I also think they get too much credit here. I quite like them them but Noel is just better with melodies in my opinion...
They really should have gotten some co-writing credits for columbia on the album though!

When Oasis went to Liverpool to work with The Real People, everything changed. Noel's songwriting evolved, and Liam developed a more mature singing style. The brothers Griffith deserve a lot of recognition for the mentoring they gave the brothers Gallagher. I've never really got why there seems to be a certain coldness between the Gallagher brothers and The Real People. I remember reading something in a thread on this forum some time ago concerning their absence from last year's documentary. Legal stuff involved too? I don't think TRP hold any animosity towards Oasis do they? They seem very pro oasis in interviews, happy to have helped.

The Real People didn't teach the Gallaghers everything about music and stuffs, they only sharpened them, Noel and Liam already had their talents at that time.
