Excited for his new stuff. Played As You Were loud in my car on my way to playing football, and it still sounds really really good.

Ehh, I just hope he has around the same amount of creative input as he did on the last album. Without a band image backing him, I'd rather not see Liam devolve into the old equivalent of a pop singer where he doesn't pen his own tunes and just keeps buying other peoples songs, you know? Barring a few scattering gems here and there, Liam is not a songwriter and he is not an artist. He is a performer first and foremost. Didn’t do that bloke Elvis any harm. Would rather hear him sing belters by unknown people than spew out aural turds written by himself, Gem or Andy.

Liam can write good songs.
Songbird, I'm Outta Time, Bold, Greedy Soul, and All I Need prove that. However he will never be able to write good albums, and that's why the army step in; they make sure that what Liam is REALLY good at - singing, performing, and capturing your attention - gets the musical backing it needs to work. I have no problem with our kid chipping in a few of his better tunes here and there, and I have no problem with the majority of the songs really having fuck all to do with him. As long as they're good tunes in the vein that Liam enjoys, I just want to see him being the popular singer and cultural figure he always deserves to be.

I really like Liam, but his songwriting stinks (to me.) The more songwriters for him, the better.

For me, Liam is a decent songwriter.
GGTIA is without doubt in my top 5 Oasis songs and songs like Songbird, Soldier on, Boy with the Blues I've all I Need, Greedy Soul and Universal Gleam can't be ignored.
It's just he can't write that number of quality tunes in the recording time for one album (the previous songs mentioned range from 2002-2017).
Every songwriter is capable of writing turds, look at Noel with GOYHHL, PYMWYMI and Keep on Reaching...

I'm Outta Time is the best Oasis tune from the MkII era. It's a fact.

Stop Crying Your Heart Out, Lyla, Let There Be Love and Shock Of The Ligtning are pretty good contenders but I still prefer I'm Outta Time.

Andrew Wyatt seems to be a pretty big deal. Winning a golden globe now. I’m really glad Liam’s got him for the second album again

I'm Outta Time is the best Oasis tune from the MkII era. It's a fact. Nice song but not great. My god it lays on the Lennon influence thick - even forgetting the voice sample at the end, the production is cringe worthy in its attempt to ape him. What the fuck the band were thinking is beyond me.

Could have been much more imo. The Lennon quote completely not required. Potential here, but seems under baked. A shame really.

I don't think Liam can work with just anyone - and vice versa! Same with the other army officer whose name eludes me now, sorry. Too early in the morning! Ps: Greg Kurstin!

Greg Kirstin is another huge name within the music industry. With them three alone + time to get the songs together I’m super confident in the quality of the next album. Will it be as good as the first, not sure, I think it’ll be a slightly different sound but the general flow of the album will be similar I would suspect. In any case it’ll be differnt because it’s not a come back album, it’s a let’s solidify myself as a solo artist now album.

Just a one page spread about the Union Chapel gig. Nothing particularly revealing except that, regarding Noel Gallagher's "rather go busking than reform OASIS" comment he says he should be careful what he wishes for. Apart from that, there'll be a new album next (surprise), inconclusive answer as to whether there'd be any celebrations for the Definitely Maybe anniversary, says he's not seen Guigs in ages.
I'll transcribe the full thing later on tonight unless someone scans it.

Rite here goes... I've transcribed the full article but you can skip straight to the bold (no pun intended) part for the news.
LIAM GALLAGHER GEARS UP FOR ALBUM TWO
The frontman on the follow-up to As You Were and the prospect of a partial Oasis reunion for Definitely Maybe's 25th Anniversary
In mid-December, the mood inside North London's Union Chapel is about as merry as it gets. It's homeless charity Shelter's annual Christmas concert and Liam Gallagher is about to take to the stage. An enormous brightly-lit tree stands stage-left, volunteers brandish buckets to take donations as the sound of John Lennon's Happy Xmas (War Is Over) is drowned out by rival football chants and cries of "Liam! Liam!" The last time Gallagher played in the capital, it was to 40,000 people at Finsbury Park. Tonight, it's 900 lucky fans, who had to enter a ballot for a ticket, with all proceeds going to Shelter. It's a "stripped-back" performance rather than an acoustic show, which means slightly less electric guitars, the streamlined set-up adding even more of a Plastic Ono Band feel to Liam's solo incarnation. Regardless of setting and arrangements, he still approaches the microphone throughout like a man throwing a headbutt in a bar brawl, so much so that he keeps on having to rub mic residue off his teeth with a black hand towel. The set is a mix of solo tunes, Oasis favourites - including a piano-led Champagne Supernova and his first performance of Cast No Shadow in 16 years - and one solitary Beady Eye number, 2013's Soul Love. There's a short interval for all in attendance to visit the upstairs bar before he returns to the stage, now joined by original Oasis guitarist Paul "Bonehead" Arthurs. By the time the show ends on a double whammy of Wonderwall and Live Forever, the celebratory mood in the room is at such a fever pitch that one man down the front pews whips his shirt off to show everyone his full back Chelsea tattoo before Liam wishes everyone a happy Christmas and exits. Three days later, Gallagher is gearing up for a break at home when he emails Q. "Christmas round mine is like everybody else's," he writes. "Lots of food, lots of drinking and the odd ding dong here and there." Accordingly, with no sign of a festive armistice on the horizon, his life-long sparring partner has recently claimed that he'd rather busk on the street than get Oasis back together. "It's like the old saying goes," says Liam, "...be careful what you wish for." Not that a reunion with Noel is currently high on Liam's list of priorities. The singer has been busy capitalising on the momentum of 2017's solo debut As You Were, spending much of 2018 in the studio working on a follow-up. "I've been in and out of the studio all year and it's sounding really good," he reports. "I'd love to do a Christmas single - I may have to speak to my army of songwriters to get one cooked up for next year." This year also marks the 25th anniversary of Definitely Maybe. Since it's become a regular ocurrence for Bonehead to come out for a few numbers at a Liam Gallagher concert, might a Noel-less Oasis line-up do something to mark quarter of a century since their debut? "Who knows?" replies Liam. "I love having Bonehead around, he's a good craic, but as for having him in full-time, fuck that, I couldn't handle it an vice versa. Been there, done that. I've not heard from Guigsy for a long time, I hear he's still in London." A new album, a partial Oasis reunion perhaps, Q wonders what else he might have up his sleeve for the year ahead. "That's for me to know and you to find out." A new year, but Liam Gallagher remains very much as he was.
Wonder if he was making a deliberate reference to the WBTM track when he said "Careful what you wish for"...

A June release would be tremendous but I’ll settle for September. September seems a little far to me. Although if they’re still recording and aren’t at mixing and final production stages then late summer would make more sense. Do we know anything about where they’re at in terms of the album?

It’s gotta be June-August release. Liam even said it will be out before September

Man... the website (SCYHO) has really gone full-on corporate, hasn't it? I haven't been there in years. Good on them if it's working.

That’s far out, man.

I've come to realize that I am not all that hyped for this release.
I mean, I'll buy it because that's what I do... but I'm pretty well indifferent about it at the moment.
