I think we are all wanting to hear Liam do it justice in the next gig
All that needs to be done is drop it a step or step and a half and it's gonna sound wayyyy better

I'm pleased he's attempting it again and full credit to him for bringing it back. Never would have expected he'd ever sing it again tbh.
But he just doesn't need to shout it out like other songs. His voice is so much better now that he can sing it softer and bring it down a notch or two and it'll sound better I'm sure.
Sounds like I'm moaning about him and his voice but I'm not. His voice sounds great now, he just doesn't need to shout as much.
I'm still glad he did it last night though.

I'd kinda prefer him to keep it to the original but only do it as a special song or when he hasn't had a string of gigs in a short space of time.
I think the Liam we have now could do it in the original key with regular rest in between gigs.

I admire Liam's willingness to change the set list regularly and challenge himself. Even if it doesn't work out so well, you've got to admire his balls. Some people like to keep the set list the same for nearly 3 years. Personally I don't think he needs Rockin' Chair in his set, it's a cult favourite but he has so many other Oasis and solo tunes he can absolutely nail live.

While acknowledging he consciously avoided the high notes in the chorus, I still think he did beautifully on the verses, and I'd rather see Rockin' Chair as an infrequent surprise (for gigs when he feels well-rested) than have its key dropped. When they did the lower-key My Big Mouth in 2009 it barely resembled itself. It didn't sound bad per se (even with Liam's strained voice, it was a cool performance), but it almost sounded like a different song.

Yeh I don't get this, we know from acoustic performances he can sing in a softer voice, but he seems to refuse to in the big gigs. Someone tell him he has a mic! But yeh, it would be interesting to hear it in a lower key and see if it works. Given his doctors advice today, I don't imagine it will be appearing again in it's original form..

Would be great to try it in an acoustic session like Natural Mystic. Much more exciting than another Wonderwall, especially as Liam tires of singing WW.
I'm so happy that he gave it a try. I think it was good but you could really tell the key was too hard now. This is more than understandable as he's closer to 50 than 23 when he first sang it! Only makes sense.
I really don't mind key changes. I'd much rather the song sounded confident and strong in a new key than stressed and inferior in its original key. That goes for any song not just Rockin Chair.

I don't mind a key change having said that had he not had a gig the night before I think he would have been more than capable of nailing it.

All he has to do is lower a half step and it will sounds great. And not shout.

This happened, too. Oasis only played this quality b-side once (in 1995) because it was deemed too difficult for Liam to sing. Here he is belting it out over twenty years later. 2017 belongs to Liam Gallagher, even at 45 the most iconic frontman of our generation.

Huh, he sung it again? Found this on Youtube. edit: oh, just seen this posted in his Twitter thread. Totally missed all of that. He sounded way better i thought this time. A little rest really seems to help him so i hope he keeps on managing the voice the best he can. Also the BBC cant seem to mix anything he does right so its norm sounding bad even if its not him. The chorus sounds amazing even if he has a hard time with some of the other parts. Im just proud of him to be trying this songs that are really hard for him and songs we thought we would never see. He couldnt pull this song off when the wrote it much less all these years later. Liam has a point to prove and he is doing a great job. I just wanna here Listen Up now and i know its old but Champagne Supernova would be great to hear again

Sounds much better. He isn’t straining for the notes as much.
It's amazing how significantly his voice has improved. Good on Liam for finding his voice again. Hearing him sing these songs again—and well—makes me feel all warm and cozy inside. As if all will be right in the world.

Good choice!

He's more than capable of singing it his voice was just tired other night ..for folk saying he needs to tone it down ,please listen to the album and original live version he's actually belting it out ,that's how liam sings ,he does sing quieter but the adrenaline does him

I like it when Liam has notes to stretch for, especially at a chorus. Always been what made him soar and is one of the main strengths of AYW.
