i love liam and all his new stuff and the gigs even on you tube sound and look great but the jools holland show and tonights bbc gig just sound shit. not the band or the singing but the levels just seem all wrong to loud vocals or quiet music or one instrument louder than another. i am no expert but you can tell when its wrong. surely people will re listen in liams team and be pissed off, this is the only time some people will here this and make a judgment. i am sure it sounded great in that room but if it was me i wouldnt be happy with it, having said that there are alot of dicks on here who judge liam on crowd recordings. peace x

BBC sound is almost always shit on TV but decent on radio. Must be a technical reason for it.

I've noticed this issue every time BBC has been in control of the sound... pretty sure it's them and not necessarily LG.. but could be completely wrong.

They love a bit of Liam sabotage on the BBC Ah, this old conspiracy theory again. To be fair, BBC mixes are often a bit shit. They always manage to screw up a couple of things during live recordings, and you either can't hear some instrument/vocal track or something else is too loud. Mixes are quite flat too, they sound lifeless. I don't know why.

Seems to me if you watch and listen to old BBC broadcasts >>> The Who, The Yardbirds, Zep, Neil Young, Peel etc. They knew how to do it in past times. Also German TV engineers seemed to get it it right. They were way ahead of the curve then. American shows always sounded shit until maybe Don Kirshner rock concert broadcasts. I get what everyone saying now though. BBC has been amazing at preserving the old stuff though. I always give them credit for that. My two pence

I'm half tempted to become one of those geezers on youtube who films those TV licence people knocking on their door when they refuse to pay.
I'll just blare out Liam's set from jools holland and they'll soon fuck off.

My two pence Back then the BBC had the pick of the best technical behind the scenes talent and little competition. Nowadays they probably outsource recording and mixing live gigs to someone else or have to do it on the cheap. It does sound really unprofessional, and this isn't exclusively Noel and Liam thing but any time I watch a performance by anyone.

BBC sound is almost always shit on TV but decent on radio. Must be a technical reason for it. Yesterday, I was listening to the radio. I was quite shocked when I watched the tv rips on YouTube. The radio broadcast was IMO much better.

Also, aside from the mix, how bad was Jay's guitar playing in Cigarettes and Alcohol? the guitar was out of tune anyway but he couldn't even play the opening riff.

His bandmates look like they're reading this forum and stressing the fuck out of every note they playing. Seriously, either fire them or give em something to chill out on !
