Are you supposed to like every one of your fans then ? Some Oasis fans are fucking idiots. Way more than any other act i've seen live. I believe Noel is mainly referring to those people, the one who think pissing in bottles and throwing them at other people is funny, or the ones who are so annoying they can ruin the gig of all the people around them. Those are the Parka Monkeys, and they are rarely Noel enthusiasts. Idiots are idiots, fans or not. They are in the minority, though, so they did not exactly make them rich. Maybe a thousand pounds here and there in the past 20 years. Big deal. "Parka monkey" is already being used here quite liberally by some of the same people who used to whine about Liam calling his brother "potato". That's the problem with epithets aimed at nebulous targets: It will be applied to any one person at some point or another. No one needs to love their fans, but it's probably a bad idea to antagonize them when you're selling $300 concert packages. Last time i checked for where i live, Liam's regular tickets were as much overpriced as Noel's. If people are stupid enough to buy those packages, then its their own problem. You could also argue that Liam is selling overpriced clothes, too... and that Liam is now tied with Live Nation which is responsible for ticket price rising in the past ten years. They are the evil of live music who slowly raised prices for tickets, buying venues to kill the market ... etc thing is, both Gallaghers have the same touring company, which is Live Nation. Artists in the end are probably completely stuck with those bigs corporations and i doubt either Noel or Liam can do anything about it. They just cant do it differently. Anyway, who the fuck cares ? Noel surely does not direspect people like you or me, only vaginas who throw piss at other people and cant understand him wanting to try something new. Even if i end up not liking his new record, there's a lot of good records this year, and Oasis back catalogue, so i'll wait another two years and hope for the best. In the end, it's his record and can do whatever the fuck he wants. If a part of Oasis fans cant understand that, well there is as you were (which i liked). Most Oasis fans, probably 99.9% of them are not Parka Monkeys, so why is everyone offended ? We've always made fun of those Liam's lookalike that looked stupid at Oasis gigs. Now we have a name for them.

"Oh, he didn't mean YOU" doesn't cut it when it's been seized upon so eagerly by some.

I’m not even sure what a parka monkey is? As this forum has taught me, it's whoever you look down on. Didn't like HM? Parka Monkey. Didn't like FK? Parka Monkey. Want an Oasis reunion? Parka Monkey. Don't like adult-contempo Champagne Supernova? Parka Monkey. I went ahead and bought parkamonkey.com just because.

I never took sides when Oasis broke up but I'm getting hard to like Noel lately, specially after those comments.
I know what he means with parka monkeys and I find it really disrespectfull, he owns those people a lot. Also a lot of them are working class and have spent their hard earned money on his music.
He should show some respect.
Also I get the feeling he's aiming for a more "intellectual" audience. Good luck with that.

Yep, saw it was available for a tenner, so I bought it. I was thinking of turning into a company name for my freelance stuff. But a cheeky fan blog would be fun too.

Without the parka monkeys he wouldn't be a millionaire and doing what he loves for a living .. people who have supported him for 20 years and he just throws jabs... he said it's not a rock album ..guess he likes dressing like a old man on a carnival cruise and bouncing around playing teenie bop music ... man I'm disappointed to say the least. In that case, Liam is a bitter old man running around with his old high school friends singing emo music. oasis classics is not emo ...liam looks like proper rock star these days ..minus the shorts

I honestly can't imagine any of those tracks as emo music. Might be an interesting cover project, though. After Mariachi Rock, anything's possible.
