Amen. It still blows my mind that Noel Gallagher released this song! Noel fucking Gallagher!! It's absolutely awful that he didn't use it as a basis for reinventing Oasis. He's catching up very quickly with tunes like Fort Knox, but I'm willing to bet that this will still be the most radical thing he's ever done even after we've heard the rest of the album. I'm hoping that the new album sounds more like Fort Knox/Teotihuacan than Holy Mountain...would be a nice treat. I want a nice mix. I love both the moody hypnotics of Fort Knox and the outrageous energy of Holy Mountain - I'd be upset if either was not represented further in the album.

It made me want to play some drums. I'll be on the bass, man. fuckin' GROOVIN - sick of all the boring acoustic strumming The bass drop at 1.45 was the thing that immediately hit me when I first listened to this. It kind of ramps up the underlying sinister tension in it. If I took LSD while watching Indiana Jones & The Temple Of Doom, I'm sure this track would fit the underground temple scenes.

Raiders of the Lost Ark when they melt scarred me as an 8 year old Always loved it, always thought Temple of Doom was uncharacteristically bleak at times. My least favourite of the trilogy (fourth doesn't count). It hinted at the psychopathy inside Lucas's mind that reached a peak with the Star Wars prequels and Crystal Skull.

My least favourite of the trilogy (fourth doesn't count). But why fourth doesn't count ? It's as unrealistic and follows the same formula as the first three. We have a soft spot for the "trilogy" but when you watch the 4 films in a row, well there is not much differences.

It's just so... pointless. There's nothing memorable, interesting or clever about the composition or the lyrics.
When Noel deviated it was always because he had a good idea, TDOYAM, What a Life, Falling Down, TIOBI, Fucking in the Bushes... I dunno the two songs we've heard so far have just been nothing-y.
Ironically it's the same problem I had with Liam's music right from the beginning, they were writing Rock N Roll songs because they thought they should, not because they had some driving urge. I get the feeling Noel has no inspiration for these tracks other than that he wants to be a bit different.
The Beatles didn't just get up one day and say "I'm going to write a psychedelic album", they were just changed by their experiences at the time and that's how the songs came out.
Noel's current offerings feel very manufactured to me, maybe the rest of the album is different but there's no resonance with me, which is unusual because I'm both a Noel fanboy and have a pretty eclectic taste in music.

its what noel has said time and time .. he would always write guitar music .. this is not ... and it kinda sucks (Incidentally, I believe this is one of the best things he's ever done) If you play that on guitar you get Jimi Hendrix' Purple Haze

George Lucas' chief error with both the Star Wars prequels (which I still love, fite me!) and Indy 4 is his penchant for including annoying kids and expecting audiences to embrace them as they did the original characters. Say what you will about the new Star Wars trilogy, but at least the new brass had the good sense to make the new leads adults.

Noel's current offerings feel very manufactured to me, maybe the rest of the album is different but there's no resonance with me, which is unusual because I'm both a Noel fanboy and have a pretty eclectic taste in music. I agree with that and it's partly what i've been saying. It seems more psychedelic for the sake of it, rather than it being pure inspiration, which is what i generally associate with psychedelia and more experimental music in general. Then again, for a 50 year old man to suddenly make an album like this, it's going to be somewhat contrived. Rather than it being natural, you can almost imagine they have a tick chart on the wall to add things to make it more "psychedelic". That's why i said in another thread that Noel's idea of psychedelia is like Coldplay after their first spliff. I don't mean it sounds like Coldplay, but you just know Coldplay have a formula they tick off in the studio when making a record, and that's how Noel's new music comes across. Don't get me wrong, i'm looking forward to hearing the album and there will probably some decent stuff on it but nothing about it so far seems authentic to me and doesn't seem to resonate with me either. I'm glad he is trying something different though and not the same old thing but it just seems a little bit forced and leaves me with no feeling at all towards it. It's neither good or bad. There's plenty of artists and bands out there doing music along these lines but far, far better and it doesn't seem forced.
