I would be happier if Pitchfork trashed it, that would mean the albums good.

Ian Maleney takes smug hipster to new levels and he's been at it for years. His reviews are almost comedic. His political stuff can be worse but that's for another thread. www.residentadvisor.net/reviews/16980

I predict faint praise and a 7 from them. If Noel gets a 7 from Pitchfork that would be the equivalent of winning the Super Bowl for a Gallagher brother in the states. It’s gotta be positive, though, surely? In a loose way Noel has lined up Pitchfork branded hoops and jumped through them with WBTM.

Stunning. 7.1!!!That’s incredible for Noel. They normally just slag him off. Bravo.

Even the harshest of Noel's critics know when to do an about-face.

I don't like Pitchfork but this will make many people give a listen to the album. And I sincerely think this album is so good it will take any chance it gets.
Frankly, I was expecting Pitchfork to do the same as other "snobbish" media such as DiS and The Observer: a safe 6 that acknowledged the (difficult to deny) quality of the album, while still distancing it from the "cool acts". Guess that now they are so big, they can afford to say what they really think

Amazing for Noel. With the great critical reception, and it looks like solid sales, hopefully this will make Noel push even more.
Still have the Consequence of Sound and SPIN reviews as the final major publications.

Is Who built the Moon the most critically acclaimed Gallagher related release this century ?

I hate the snobbery and arrogance of Pitchfork. But, conversely, that's a fantastic achievement to get a 7 from them for Noel.
Tbf, this is is probably Noel's best-received album - critically - since Be Here Now.
The unfortunate thing is the majority of critics are utter tits. But still, good for Noel.
