Fascinating interview. I do love hearing him talk about how he makes his albums. He's the best authority on that, and the past Oasis albums.

So Julian House directed the video for Holy Mountain. But it was a postman called Gareth Halliday who designed it! Who needs a professional artist! garethhallidaycollageart.com

He's always great in interviews when (a) the interviewer knows his stuff and (b) the interviewer doesn't impose his personality on the interview. Moyles knows (a) fuck all, and (b) is a boorish prick. Likewise with that cranky Sunday Times interview he did, the interviewer was more interested in his relationship with Liam rather than his new album, which is probably the most boring topic on earth amongst Oasis fans now. Fan interviews should happen more often with Noel. 'I hear a lot of shouting... like the Foo Fighters'. Brilliant, finally someone said it.

I listen to/watch Noel interviews via YT quite a bit. He is so damn funny. I wish I got into more of the minutiae of “the process” but it’s still interesting to me when he talks about it.

Why I'm not surprised that Noel had some harsh words about co-writing music...

The interview was good until the reunion question. Noel sounds very pissed about Liam and saying that he is acting insane (?), what the fuck? I'm tired of their shit. They need to shut the fuck up and stop insulting each other.

Why I'm not surprised that Noel had some harsh words about co-writing music... Working with a producer (Holmes) that he is changing arrangements, adding melodies and elements to the songs is like co-writing, isn't it? Maybe that's why Noel wasn't so keen on working with the AA? Having them co-writing songs would harm his image, right (The Mexican)? The process in both cases seems the same to me.

Having them co-writing songs would harm his image, right (The Mexican)? The process in both cases seems the same to me. They are the same. I made the point in the AA thread that authorship with a producer comes down to the producer on an individual level and is on a situation by situation basis. It's up to the producer or artist to make sure they discuss writing credits before writing a single note. My guess has always been that the AA and Noel never really had a conversation about that. Hence, the mix up. However, that conversation is extremely important because as can be seen, Holmes might not want writing credits, while the AA did. So it's foolish to assume one way or the other.

Anyone who still thinks a reunion is on the cards should hear how bitter Noel sounds when the question comes up.

I'm not usually one for the Liam vs Noel nonsense but it's interesting that Noel directly referred to Liam's constant berating of him on twitter as the reason he wouldn't consider reforming Oasis.

Anyone who still thinks a reunion is on the cards should hear how bitter Noel sounds when the question comes up. That part was strange to me because he talks as though nothing happened between them prior to Liam’s tweets and that is the reason for no reunion. Mind, he’s been saying that since the split (more than not) - no reunion.

Noel said he thinks he's being going with Sara for 18 years. But wasn't he still going with Meg in 2000?

Noel said he thinks he's being going with Sara for 18 years. But wasn't he still going with Meg in 2000? Noel met Sara when he left Oasis in 2000 in Spain. He still was married to Meg at that point but wanted to speed up the process of divorce. So he is wrong with 1 year.

I don't think there has ever been any real prospect of a reunion, and neither do I think Liam has ever wanted one since he came back. This past six months has been a pr campaign to change the perception of Liam as the one who broke up oasis. Hence the constant reinforcing of Noel being the one who walked out and Liam talking of wanting oasis back while simultaneously needling Noel and his family on twitter. I'm sure Liam would have been more shocked than anyone if Noel had said yes to a reunion at this stage. And I don't think Noel is bitter just because Liam makes fun of him on twitter, he's bitter because he knows Liam's tactics have been sucessful. Noel worked very hard to build his image as the only talented one in oasis and portray Liam as an idiotic talentless chimp. It will burn deep that his whole narrative since the split has been overturned by Liam's clever campaign and excellent album and tour performance.
