DGSS is the worst album a Gallagher has ever put out.

Not at all. It's actually worse in every single aspect, in my opinion.

If you're going to troll, at least be original.

DGSS is the worst album a Gallagher has ever put out. I get the feeling we'll have a new contender for that spot with Noel's new album.

DGSS is the worst album a Gallagher has ever put out. I get the feeling we'll have a new contender for that spot with Noel's new album. Only if Noel’s secretly called Andy and Gem to write a few songs and the whole David Holmes thing is a hoax - the real mastermind behind WBTM is Lillywhite.

Actually think DGSS is alot better than BE on reflection. At the time, i was all for the "new" production but in reality the production of Sitek was nothing mind blowing at all and was at times actually detracting from the songs. (Soul Love was sucked dry of life and soul, Don't Brother Me was a song about his brother that ended with a 3 minute random instrumental that some cited as great for reasons unknown to me)
Anyway dunno why i paid this thread any attention. As You Were is the only album post Oasis by a Gallagher brother that i find really easy to listen to and stays really consistent. Both Noel's albums are solid but his voice is boring for more than 3 songs together.

The Morning Son is criminally underrated here because it is a BE song and on that album, it's too bad really. It gets cast aside but it should be in most Oasis/Gallagher fans' playlists, still one of Liam's best-ever songs.
Because I like Millionaire and Three Ring Circus, songs 1-3 and 10-13 are actually highlights for me. Even if The Beat Goes On was a let down overall, the versus are still pretty damn amazing.
But its songs 4-9 that really dip the album.

Im probably one of the only people that enjoy 'wind up dream'. Had a stonesy feeling to me. DGSS has a lot of good tunes but some bad ones as well. I really dont like for anyone or standing on the edge... the live version of wigwam is mega! Morning son is good as well. Maybe he should sing that one with his improved voice. As you were is better than DGSS though.

This thread has actually made me go back and listen to DGSS for the first time in years and its actually a good album which needed some of the absolute shit like Standing On The Edge Of The Noise taking off. Gem didnt just write dad rock, but absolute fucking dreadful lyrics.

DGSS suffers from two main issues:
1. Muddy production that makes it sound like a third-generation cassette bootleg.
2. The same unevenness that plagues the Oasis Mk 2 albums, only even more pronounced because there was no Noel to help elevate the tunes.
You have Four Letter Word, but you also have Bring the Light. You have The Beat Goes On, but you also have Beatles and Stones. The gold-to-shit ratio is not as bearable as it was in, say, DBTT or DOYS.
I still enjoy listening to it, but there's a lot of skipping around.

Yeah i was teasing you Gem has some great ups and some big downs on Beady Eye records. Mostly, on BE, they are good, bar Second Bite. Problem is Beady eye choose 3 or so songs each so every writers would get the same ratio of songs on the records. but that wasn't the best of ideas.

Yeah i never liked the sharing of the writing in Oasis or Beady Eye. It always should have been a case of recording 20+ songs and picking the best. Not sharing it out and letting everyone have a pop. Maybe it was more forgivable in Beady Eye so they all got equal money, but the credits were shared on the first album and they could have just done it that way.
