Roll With It doesn't sound like the Beatles but you could easily imagine it on A Hard Day's Night. I can't imagine Wonderwall as anyone other than Oasis.

DM there aren't any tunes that remind me of Beatles, but certainly on MG. The likes of She's Electric, DLBIA, RWI and arguably Wonderwall all sound Beatlesesque... Shes Electric has the one little bit that was from Little Help From My Friends but the song is nothing like the Beatles. Its a homage to them. This is what i find quite baffling about the Beatles comparisons too. The media and in particular Beatles fans of that era attack Oasis for stuff like this but they're paying tribute? Its like how they try and pick up on anything Liam or Noel have said negatively about the Beatles. Why be the first to talk about the lasting impact they had if bands cant do things like that? Who said anything about me attacking them for sounding Beatlesesque? To me it is the highest compliment you could give a band.

The guitars and vocals on RWI, and the tune itself sounds very 60's to me. Wonderwall - the overemphasis on orchestra, a bit like Eleanor Rigby, or something from Sgt. Pepper/Magical Mystery Tour. I forgot about Whatever too. It doesn't rip off any specific song but just apes the Beatles 1967 sound - a mix of All You Need Is Love / Penny Lane / Magical Mystery Tour. Sorry mate but all that is scraping the barrel. Why? Because I have a different opinion to you?

The Beatles comparisons are always used derogatory or as a way of putting Oasis in their place in history rather than in a positive light.

The guitar, melody and vocals on RWI sound very much like Beatles, circa 1964. To me, anyway. I appreciate not everyone will hear the same things, interpret it in the same way, or reach the same conclusion.

So when you listen to Hello you think it sounds like Garry Glitter? Blimey. I think the bit that's exactly the same as the Gary Glitter song (hello, hello, it's good to be back) sounds like Gary Glitter, yes. Is that odd? By just using that one excerpt, Glitter earned £1m

Sometimes the answer isn't "it sounds like X song", sometimes it's about the vibe of the song. The tambourine and guitars halfway through sound very much 60s, and remind me of Ticket To Ride a lot, even though they don't life any of the actual melody.

I have only found two reviews in magazines / newspapers until now: "The Guardian (Alex Petridis, in page 18 of the G2 cultural supplement, released today): Section: What Alexis Enjoyed this week: Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds – Holy Mountain. Whatever I was expecting from Gallagher’s collaboration with producer David Holmes, it wasn’t something this much fun – like Ricky Martin’s She Bangs recast as 21stcentury bovver glam, or Ça Plane Pour Moi covered by Wizzard." Very short, but I think it's remarkable because Petridis is usually a detractor of all things Gallagher and he is positive here The other one I found is this from 'Louder than War' (I also posted it in the Holy Mountain thread): louderthanwar.com/noel-gallaghers-new-glamtastic-single-thoughts/It's also positive I found a couple more (positive) but they are from what seem to be very small music blogs, so probably they are not relevant. (Moderators, feel free to move this to the Holy Mountain thread if you think it is better. I don't know how many other reviews of the song will appear) A new one very positive in Rolling Stone USA, with also positive mention to Liam: (number 5 in The Playlist) "Both of the Oasis Bros have been killing it lately. Here Noel knocks out a glam stopper that's every bit as excellent as his finest Nineties moments"
