As i´d vote for "The Death of you&me" above "Bring the Light" & "In the Heat of the Moment" above "Second bite of the apple" this time there is no discussion. "Wall of Glass" is a really good song and "Holy Mountain" is a catchy, poppy tune (nothing experimental at all...or using a flute is just a sing of a n experimental song?) but average at least. Noel´s in autopilot.
Just one question for all who´s voting for "Holy Mountain" here: If "wall of Glass" were a NOel´s song and "Holy Mountain" a Liam´s song, would you vote the same?

The results were predictable, but I have to say my answer is "obviously, Holy Mountain".
Wall of Glass strikes me as a calculated a tempt to give Liam a nostalgia-tinged first single and aim for a hit, even putting elements from Supersonic in it (chord progression on the pre-chorus + pentatonic riff in between repetitions of the refrain). It's safe modern rock, a bit bland a it leaves me cold. It's not a bad song by any means but I think Liam's voice deserves something with more personality and flavour.
Holy Mountain is such a deceptively simple tune, it's equal parts glam, bubblegum, 50s rock'n'roll, it's got a slightly dark edge with the distorted brass and Phil Spector-like production. But at the same time, it sounds modern. I can't get enough of it. Why were the results predictable? Because you think the majority here are backward thinking luddites? Phil Spector can fuck off to.
I don't know what to make of your reply, if it's serious or tongue in cheek, so I'll answer to the best of my ability. I predicted months ago (before we even heard a note from Liam or Noel) that the fanbase at large would prefer Liam's album because it would be more similar to what we're used to and Noel's would be different. I remember someone replied jokingly that it would be the same old thing, Noel would serve another slice of dad rock and we would struggle to find a chorus on Liam's record. Even though Noel hasn't gone all Sun Ra and Liam's album doesn't sound exactly like WTSMG, so far it looks like my hunch might have been correct.
By the way, you're putting words in my mouth. I haven't called anyone anything.
As for Phil Spector, he's obviously a murderer, but what's the problem with his work? The song you posted (not the correct version, though!) is one of the most iconic songs of its time and you can't deny that his productions values have made a strong impact on music. Plus he's behind quite a few masterpieces.

WOG is the result of some A-list pop writers/producers trying to imitate Noel Gallagher songwriting circa WTSMG era. And I have to say they have (more or less) succeeded in it. And Liam is still my favourite performer of all time But Holy Mountain is a real, very good IMO Noel Gallagher song that tries to open a new path. So, Holy Mountain WOG sounds nothing like Oasis IMO.

Am I the only person to think that Holy Mountain isn't as "different" as people are making it out to be? If you brought everything down a step it'd be another normal Noel Gallagher song, it's not like it's techno. It has really loud brass and whistle on it. At the end of the day it's a basic pop song, but I don't believe it's even that good of a pop song, it's pretty average all things considered. I've seen people say, "I hated it at first, but after the fifteenth listen I love it" a song shouldn't take 15 listens to become good, you shouldn't have to force yourself to like it.

In my opinion, growers are songs that I think that are weird on first listen or I don't know what to think about them. But I don't go and listen to them again. But then after 5 minutes or 5 hours or 5 days or 5 months, I feel the urge to listen that song again. And then I like it better than after first listen and it becomes grower. But if you force yourself to like it, then it's not grower. I remember hearing for the first time Alejandro by Lady Gaga. And it sounded like the worst piece of shit. But then I heard it in cafe and then in car and then on tv etc. And it was like that every day. And then I started to sing Alejandro, Alejandro. It was in my head but just because I heard it 241215151 times.

This is basically a rewrite of a post I wrote on the previous page ^^ I totally agree with you.

Wall of glass left me wanting more, holy mountain had the opposite effect on me. So wall of glass wins easily for me.

Holy Mountain easy, what a tune. The she fell under my spell bit and the flute, he's done it again for me.
And Liam's new album is great.
