Hello,
I am looking into buying a cheap but decent record player. I know nothing about them but know that I want one - I definitely want to listen to Noel's new album on one. Can anyone point me in the direction of a decent one? My budget is around about £50
Thanks in advance!

I did a bit of research on this before I bought mine last year. Cheap ones really aren't worth your time. That said, it is possible to get a nice turntable that will last (and will be repairable - which cheaper ones are not) for a bit more. From the $180-320 there are a number of good quality options. I bought an Audiotechnica AT60 something (?) for just under $200 and got a 4 year warranty too. Cheaper ones that have the built in speaker also don't sound very good and will only last a year before they start to malfunction and cant' be repaired.

My advice - get on eBay and get yourself a nice vintage player.
Of course you'll then need an amp and speakers, but trust me the sound is worth it - these little USB decks sound shit and will probably damage your vinyl.

I never did much research on turntables but I'm going to go ahead and second this. Older audio equipment in general tends to be better made. I have a Technics.
