Arguably the worst two tracks of the first two albums.
I prefer Shakermaker - the middle eight saves it a bit.
Whereas Hey Now is just pure trudgery: Slow, plodding, boring....fuck off track.

Disagree, Hey Now is the better of the two. It has grown on me over the years whereas Shakermaker has shrunk on me over the years.

Well, Noel actually wrote the melody to Hey Now so...

The 'sorry but I just don't know' bit made me vote for Shakermaker.

Shakermaker WISHES it was in the same league as Hey Now! Neither are the worst on their respective albums but Hey Now smashes this outta the water

I've been driving in my car
With my friend Mr. Soft
Mr. Clean and Mr. Benn
Are living in my loft | I hitched a ride with my soul
By the side of the road
Just as the sky turned black
I took a walk with my fame
Down memory lane
I never did find my way back |
Ok, admittedly that's a very specious argument, but still, Hey Now wins it imo.

I like them both tbh. I liked Hey Now right from the first listen but really didn't care much for Shakermaker for a good while though eventually it grew on me. The decision of releasing it as a single with so many better tunes to pick from on DM will always be a headscratcher though.
I'll give my vote to HN but just barely tbh

I like both songs, It is hard for me, but I will choose Shakermaker just because of that part "I'm Sorry but I just don't knoooow", this part is one of those magic Oasis moments.

'Hey Now!' is a good song but I can't say I ever feel an urge to listen to it. It's just a bit of a drag. 'Shakermaker' is a great throwback though. Classic Oasis.

Well, Noel actually wrote the melody to Hey Now so... This is not really a very good argument for Hey Now. If I build my house myself, that doesn't make the house somehow inherently better than having others do it. In fact, you could argue the exact opposite is true. ----- Personally, I find Shakermaker a much more interesting tune than Hey Now.

Voted for Shakermaker. It's just more fun and interesting and I really like the guitar solo leading the middle eight as well.
Both great songs though.

Say what you want about both songs, we all wish the brothers were still releasing tracks as good nowadays.

Say what you want about both songs, we all wish the brothers were still releasing tracks as good nowadays. I disagree. I'll take Riverman, In the Heat of the Moment, The Dying of the Light, The Right Stuff, While the Song Remains the Same, Ballad of the Mighty I, and Wall of Glass over both of them. Shakermaker is just alright IMO, saved by Liam's vocals and the classic Oasis guitar feel. Hey Now is better, but drags like all hell towards the end - shorten it, turn up the strings, and I might be a fan. As is, it's just ok/good.
