It struck me that since The Fame was released on the back of AATW, we would not hear another upbeat fast rocker in this style by Noel again until Lock All the Doors.
Why was this? Had Noel run out of that upbeat energy? Had the drugs taken its toll? Or had he become tired of writing these types of songs (Step Out, Stay Young, IHITIK, etc.)
For me these are the songs that define Oasis. Feelgood, upbeat, very fast poppy rock, but unfortunately they wouldn't appear again throughout the entire Oasis Mk 2 phase.

Mucky Fingers? Record Machine? The Good Rebel? 🤔

I thought we were talking exclusively about songs where Noel sings on.

Less cocaine... less full-on punk-esque rock songs.

As predicted I knew I would hear the usual songs from Mk 2 being mentioned. Full On, Shock of the Lightening, Lyla, etc. But they are not in the same category (or quality) as the following - Fade Away, Some Might Say, Stay Young, IHITIK, The Fame, Round Are Way, Step Out, etc. These are all feelgood songs with uplifting choruses. The Mk 2 suggestions are way off the mark. When you hear Lock all the Doors it is immediately identifiable as old Mk1 upbeat Oasis, and a type of song we never heard in the MK 2 phase.

He seemed to stop writing many songs for Liam to sing which doesn't help in this regard.

That is not a fast upbeat rocker. Little by Little is in a similar vain to Don't Look Back in Anger, Stand by Me, TIOBI, etc. Slower anthemic ballads.

Think this covers why. Often Noel talks BS, but on this sort of area he seems to talk a bit less BS. Basically just seems to be age. It's probably the main reason Beethoven also hasn't released any bangerz recently.

It's probably the main reason Beethoven also hasn't released any bangerz recently. This makes sense. Lock all the Doors was also an old resurrected chorus track too, so it was more a throwback song for Noel, rather than the normal stuff he does these days. I don't mind his solo albums at all. For me they are better than most of the stuff that came out of the Oasis Mk 2 era, save for a few B sides during the SOTSOG and HC albums. But every now and again it is nice to hear a fast, upbeat The Fame/Stay Young/Step Out style track once more, and I hope we have one of these on his new album.

As showcased in the song 'Just Getting Older'. So is Just Getting Older about just getting older? Seems like it to me, I might just be getting older though.
