England 2, Denmark 3
fuckin horse ....
England went down 3-2 to Denmark in their friendly international at Old Trafford, with former Newcastle striker Jon Dahl Tomasson netting an 82nd minute winner.
Sven-Goran Eriksson gave only a second start to Chelsea's Joe Cole in midfield, with John Terry and Matthew Upson paired at the heart of the defence.
The game got off to a cracking start as England took the lead just five minutes in. Frank Lampard passed towards Emile Heskey and the ball broke for Wayne Rooney to crack home a superb 20-yard drive.
However, three minutes later it was 1-1 as poor England defending allowed Martin Jorgensen to net from close range following a ball in from the right.
Within a minute England were back in front as Heskey and Rooney helped to play in Joe Cole, who beat Thomas Sorensen with a classy left-foot finish.
Gary Neville limped off soon after to allow Glen Johnson to make his senior debut.
On the half hour the Danes were level for a second time as Upson brought down Jorgensen, who got up to coolly convert from the penalty spot for his second goal of the game.
Joe Cole shot straight at Sorensen shortly before the break and David James had to gather a Daniel Jensen chip as the first half ended level.
England made four changes at the interval, with sub keeper Paul Robinson almost beaten by Kenneth Perez's drive early in the second period.
Rooney then smashed a right-foot shot against the far post, with Sorensen completely beaten by the Everton starlet's powerful strike.
Soon after Jesper Gronkjaer tested Robinson, with Perez unable to find the net from the rebound.
Skipper David Beckham and Rooney made way for Jermaine Jenas and debutant Scott Parker midway through the second half.
The Newcastle United man almost restored England's lead for a third time, but Sorensen blocked and the Danes got the ball away to safety.
James Beattie then set up Danny Murphy, who shot just wide of target, before the visitors scored the winning goal eight minutes from time.
Robinson palmed away a Peter Lovenkrands effort and eventually the ball broke for Tomasson to drive his shot high into the roof of the net.
Lovenkrands almost added a fourth soon after as Denmark clinched an impressive victory.
