Leeds United chairman Professor John McKenzie says the club are under no immediate pressure to sell players, despite announcing huge losses earlier in the week. The Elland Road club recorded losses of nearly £50million for the year to June 30, but McKenzie is confident that things are moving in the right direction. He told BBC One's Football Focus: "With the size of the squad and the size of the wage bill in the squad we would find it difficult to spend money unless we save by other sales. "But what I can say is that there won't be any fire sales. "Players will only leave Leeds if they want to or unless the manager thinks a player is not appropriate to his needs. "If that happens then we will try and put all that money back into purchasing new players." www.nationwide.co.uki hate that twat!

Sounds like to little to late to me theyve allready sold about 8 really good players. Theyve bin really stupid if they couldnt afford the players they should never have bought them cos they can only sell them for tiny prices now as all the other clubs no about their finacial situation and just offer small amounts of money like a quater of what they paid for them and they have to except it. Harry kewell springs to mind.

Exactly, when they came up to Anfield last week he did buggar all.
In one instance he was about 5 yards away from the ball and Stevie G was about 15 yards away...you don't need to ask who got there first!
Viduka's just a fat and lazy player who should be much more!

i love watching Viduka. yeah he's fat and lazy but he has great skill and a style all his own (kinda reminds me of myself........) ;D
quality player though - put him up front alongside Van Nistelrooy or Thierry Henry and he'd look the part. not the kind of guy you want in a relegation battle though. having said that his form at the end of last season was exceptional!
Smith and Robinson are saleable assets too. Somebody seriously fucked up that club - the financial results that came out last week were just abysmal. unexcuseable. i presume ridsdale was to blame for it all, but the rest of the board should have realised what was going on too.
I don't understand where the chairman is coming from here though - they lost £50 million last year. and there is nothing to say they won't lose another 50 next year! they have to re-structure the club and if that means player sales then so be it. Sunderland realised that and took action. If Leeds go down with their current squad they will probably be in administration this time next year

it might sound a bit harsh but id love it if leeds went down. I Just think it would be well funny, they were in the champions league a couple of years ago with loads of top class players. Ive also never liked leeds, dirty side allways getting players sent off, not to mention that thing with woodgate and bowyer.

Sure they can. They can get relegated like some teams we know... shouldn't you be kissing my arse instead of posting crap like this?? please leave the intelligent, knowledgeable people to talk about football in peace....... there are plenty of threads where you can talk about all your crap - american football, baseball, george clooney, fleetwood Mac etc etc..... ok back to football! Sunderland announced a £20 million loss in the last financial year eek - but hopefully things will turn around. that figure doesn't include recent player sales of around £15million. and the wage bill has been virtually cut in half - so we'll be doing ok next year!

If they got up i think their best bet would be to loan players. like Bolton did with ockotcha and dyorkayeff (how the fuck do you spell that) and birmingham did with duggary.

(i think its spelt Djorkaeff btw! it is freaky name ;D )
