THe Republic of Ireland drew with Turkey in a friendly at Lansdowne Road. The match finished 2-2 with goals from IRE: Connolly (35) Dunne (90) TUR: Sukur (51) Yilmaz (86)
In a entertaining friendly Ireland were much changed from the team that dissapointally drew with Russia last saturday in a Euro2004 qualifer. Turkey next match is against England, the important qualifer to see who will top the group. England play Leichstine at Old Trafford on Sep 10th.
A good goal from Connolly (about time!) put Ireland in the laed before Hakan Sukur leveled. Turkry looked to have snatched it in the final few minutes but in stoppage time sub Richard Dunne turned the ball in after it dropped down from a conor with a helping hand (literally) from Kevin Kilbane. Turkey then had a goal dissalowed for offside. TV replays later showed it was a wrong decision. The same linesman ealier rulled out a Duff goal which also should have stood. Turkey were the better side having more possession and putting some lovely passing moves together. Rustu Recber, their goalkeeper went off injured and replaced by Cathic who with his first touch nearly put the ball into the back of his own net. A few more spills later and the sub was replaced by Ozgultekin ;D
It's Switzerland away for Ireland next , Oct 11th and England for Turkey (same date I think)

Robbie should be back in the next couple of weeks. He is defo back for the Swiss game next month.
On Wednesday Russia hammered Switzerland 4-1. Ireland HAVE to beat Switzerland over there if they want a playoff place. They can top the group if Russia slip up against Georgia which is unlikely. England beat Leichstine 2-0 with Rooney scoring again. They only need a draw to qualify for Portugal.
