FAs can control the tickets. They can help police. They can do a lot to avoid these situations, if they want. the FA's do NOT control their countries allotment of tickets. and im not sure what you mean by 'help police'...? disqualification just seems harsh for something that the players/team arent involved in. punishing someone for the actions of strangers is ridiculous. at a minimum you could start with a closed stadium type deal for the rest of their group matches or something. or maybe just the sections set aside for russians...

Its not ridiculous, it works. example? theres hardly a precedent for it, so who knows if it works. isnt it kinda like firing your employees because some customers had a fight in the car park? its not logical. what did the russian players do to deserve punishment?!? and whether it works or not is beside the point. the ridiculous part is how unfair it is... just my opinions.

England's domestic teams were booted out of European competition for years, it was part of what forced us to deal with our large hooligan problem. Maybe it wasn't fair on all the players that missed out but it helped get it sorted.

Only if they fight inside the stadium again. Nothing about fighting outside. That fine is also a joke, Rooney's 3 days salary. That fine is worse than it looks considering they can't even pay there manager. While England still has its problems with hooligans its nice to see the lions share of the blame going to the right place when everyone was so quick to jump on the England fans at the start.

I don't know what a video of some idiots is supposed to prove to me? Would you say this is representative of Spanish supporters? screamer.deadspin.com/new-footage-of-spanish-hooligan-brawl-shows-murdered-ma-1665711039If you think English hooliganism is anywhere near previous levels then you're a fool. Nice try though.

I don't say things like "its nice to see the lions share of the blame going to the right place when everyone was so quick to jump on the England fans at the start". I'm not saying anything else than zero tolerance for violence, and your words don't say that, you seem to think "well, those guys are not that bad, the other guys are worse!"
I hope those animals get their punishment. I'm not sad for what happened to a fool who went into a prepared fight. And I don't care what hooligans were, nor makes me feel better to think they're getting better. That scum should be out of football, wherever they're from.

The vast majority of England that night weren't prepared for a fight. The Russians are organised, just look at there domestic record. Unfortunately they are suffering from similar problems that we did. I'm not saying England don't have hooligans and where they are found they should be banned for life but Russia and other areas of Eastern Europe have a frankly scary problem and unless something is done the 2018 World Cup will be a disaster.

It was again not perfect (far, far from it) but hey, we're winning at the end, so I'm not complaining too much. Hope we'll progress match after match.
On these words... good night !

I'm sure there will be less problems in Russia than this year in France. Just look at those videos, do you see any cops? I think all of those police forces got tired of drunk English fans who were doing chants about ISIS and other shit all day. Russia can make the streets really clean if they want. And why wouldn't they want, it's their tournament and they probably don't want any problems. Biggest problem will be those small alleys which are impossible to guard 24/7.

UEFA has penalised Russian teams for racism in the Champions League, Racism has been reported to be endemic in Russian football even directed by fans at there own players, they've had to keep teams from the Ukraine and Russia apart in the Europa League. The right wing driven hooligans who are present in huge numbers? What the Russian FA and supporters representative said about the recent trouble? Russia's humans rights record? The protests at the Sochi Winter Games because of state supported homophobia? And you think the security forces will be firm but fair? All I can say is I hope you're right but they wouldn't even have the tournament without corruption and reason they wouldn't is partly because of what I've stated above. The best thing I hope for is that people don't go to see it tbh.

At the half: England are terrible. Hart is not, and has never been, a world class GK. Sterling is a glorified Walcott. Hodgson should not be the England manager. What a piss poor first half.

When England come up against a half decent team, they'll get horsed. Average at best.
