The intro from 'Those Swollen Hand Blues' can be heard in this scene from 'Boogie Nights' (1997).
I'm not sure if it's an original piece for the film, or taken from another track? Either way, I thought it would be interesting for anyone who hadn't noticed before.

Nice find! That bell-like tone is very distinctive.
As you say, interesting question as to whether that piece was specially composed for Boogie Nights or if it was sampled from somewhere else. I know there are CDs that include the pop songs heard in the film, but am unsure if the complete score has been released.

It's definitely the same sound, I just don't know what the piece is called.

according to the comments it's called "Clementine's Loop" by Jon Brion
The elusive "Clementine's Loop" used in three of Paul Thomas Anderson's films--Hard Eight (1996), Boogie Nights (1997), and Magnolia (1999)

Not every sound is a rip off. I can just see it now: Noel is breathing, and Paul McCartney breathed once, Noel must be ripping off Paul by breathing! Ffs.

Thanks Eva for posting the source! Would be a good one to add to the WhoSampled website.
Talking of Oasis samples, if anyone can find where this one came from, I'll eat my hat. Obscure to say the least...
This one (also from Columbia) sounds a bit like film dialogue to me. It's like a dramatic performance of the line, rather than a straightforward reading.

Wasn't it something they record from the radio? (Radio 1 or 5?) Or was that an other song?

Wasn't it something they record from the radio? (Radio 1 or 5?) Or was that an other song? Davidjay asked Noel himself during the Reddit AMA last year: Hi Noel. Do you remember where the chant in the demo of Columbia was sampled from? Sounds like a Hare Krishna-type chant to me, but would love to know where it was actually from. Thanks! None of us know. It was just - we switched on the radio - it was recorded in the middle of the night, about 3 or 4 AM, and we just... it was something that was on the BBC World Service I think or some fucking radio station. None of us know what it is. No idea.
So yeah, it was recorded off a radio station, but no one still has an idea what it is.

Awesome find, Jack and eva! I really like the original piece, it's very atmospheric and haunting.
