Don't know much about British politics, but it seems both America and U.K. is going through a chaotic time. So Johnson is resigning, does that mean a new election will be held and you all can finally be rid of tory leadership? It just means another Tory leader, a general election would have to be called to change the party. If he manages to stay on something unusual might happen. Labour MP Chris Bryant has said Boris Johnson could put the “country’s security and economy at risk” if he takes too long to make way for a successor. Bryant told the PA news agency:
He hasn’t resigned so far, he said he’s going to resign later on this year.
It’s now in the hands of the Conservative party to decide how long that is going to take, if it is going to be a few days, OK, maybe he can stay.
If it is going to be months he cannot stay, because that puts the country’s security and economy at risk because he will be a completely lame duck prime minister.
I think we either have a new prime minister by the end of next week or there will certainly be a vote of confidence in the House of Commons.
The whole of the Tory party are to blame for this, they put him in there and they took ages and ages to get to this point, even when he was clearly breaking every rule going. This is key, he hasn't actually resigned yet.

Since there’s so much negativity in this thread and I don’t know much about British politics I’m genuinely curious to know if there’s someone you would want as next premier? Is there a politician like let’s say AOC in the states that gives you some sort of „hope“? Or is at least promising?

Whoever it it’ll be the same deal, none of them have resigned because of policy disagreements (as fas as I’m aware).

Would be wonderful if a remainer got the gig. Not that I think it would mean that the Conservative party would suddenly about-turn and start campaigning to re-join the EU of course, but it would really annoy a lot of the angry gammon I've seen on TV today stating "Boris is a good man".

Really when you think about it none of the Tory PM's in recent years have been PM for all that long really. First we had Cameron {or Dodgey Dave as I used to call him}, then we had May and of course more recently Johnson and none of those have lasted for five years even. Mind you. the Tory's have been in power for far too long now.

The faces change, the agenda doesn’t.
I hope people have learned. I won’t hold my breath though, they didn’t learn after the “austerity” stunt. And that coincided with a very expensive Olympics if I remember correctly. And I do remember correctly.
Oh well, at least we can afford gas & lec & tins of beans still eh.
Edit: Oh, hang on.

I read in the paper yesterday that the next Tory PM will be the fourth in six years. They're not doing very well are they? What we really need is a general election and a change of government and not another new Tory PM. But of course we won't get that as they will want to hang on to power for as long as possible.
