I love this song, it's like a cyberpunk ballad. One of the prettiest choruses of the decade, too.

Quite incredible how Cigarettes After Sex can release the same song time and time again. Good band but too samey. I can listen to a few songs but listening to a whole album is tiresome.

Aye it’s taking the piss out of the album as a cohesive piece of work. The pseudo-intellectuals will say it’s about an ‘immersive experience of one sustained mood’ but that’s bullshit. The truly great acts are able to vary up their songs without compromising the mood of an entire album. Not to say they’re terrible, but when you hear one song that’s brilliant, you’ve heard them all. Cigarettes After Sex have one good idea and repeat it ad nauseum.

I still don't know if I really like this Sam Fender guy or not. He seems to be quite hyped by NME & co. The kid is talented for sure. This tune (The Borders) is brilliant. Echoes of Springsteen and The War on Drugs all over it. Great song. I absolutely love him, he surely has something to say and knows how to do it

Deal with it, hipsters, AM is the best Arctic Monkeys album. It was a while since I've felt this triggered by an opinion on music. If I was 15 a clever rant would have been coming your way, now I will only grind my teeth in silence.

I like several songs on AM but i really miss the youthful energy and great hooks from their debut. I don't even like FWN that much.

And then you also have the slight problem that about half the songs on AM are pure shite. Was a while since I heard it, but one of those songs(Arabella maybe?) really struck me as being one of the cringiest rock songs I've ever heard. Alex Turner has the capacity to be brilliant, but when he's not and he still thinks he is, then things can go awfully wrong.

Deal with it, hipsters, AM is the best Arctic Monkeys album. It's not even a contest. Literally everything else I've heard from them, including Whatever People Say I Am, and especially I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor, bores me to death (here come the pitchforks haha). AM is so much better that if it weren't for the clear stylistic similarities I wouldn't even believe that it was recorded by the same band.

Arctic Monkeys are the most overrated band of the last 15 years. I never got the hype

Favourite Worst Nightmare is their best album.
So many great tunes on there.

I'm with you. Relistened to their debut the other night, just to see if I'd hear the incredible record everyone else does this time - nope. Still, to me, a unremarkable album whose main selling points are funny song titles and an accent. A Certain Romance is good, Mardy Bum has its charm, but you can keep the rest. AM, in fairness to them, is a very solid radio-rock album. Arabella always make me bop my head.

For me I love Arctic Monkeys's debut and am largely indifferent to everything after. Especially the last one. I am biased though as WPSIATWIN was one of the first albums I properly got into. I had a CD-R of it that I burned from my sister's iTunes... how things change!
Rage Against the Machine are getting back together. I really, really hope they come to the UK.

Anyone else heard Gang Starr's new album 'One Of The Best Yet'? One of the best hip-hop albums I've heard for a long time.

Anyone else heard Gang Starr's new album 'One Of The Best Yet'? One of the best hip-hop albums I've heard for a long time. It is good. Might sneak into my top twenty rap albums of the year. This song and Lights Out are my favourites on early listens: Royce never disappoints.

Yeah me too. I can barely make a top 3 list for hip-hop albums this year tbh. I'm very picky about what I like, which is usually only old-school sounding hip-hop and Wu-Tang related albums. If you got any suggestions, let me know?

If you got any suggestions, let me know? If you like it old school, the new seven-track Benny the Butcher album is a must. Twenty-five minutes of pure quality:

Never understood the popularity of Somewhere Only We Know. That guy out of Keane has such a shit voice. Something about it I can’t stand - the bellowing, the over earnestness to it. Awful singer, awful band.
