When I hear snippets of Noel’s new songs, they always sound cool to me, so I look forward to the song. Then I listen to the song and it’s always disappointing tbh. I’ve realised it’s because of his voice, it just doesn’t work at all for me with the electronica. He just brings it down tbh- his voice is so much better on acoustic ballady stuff.

did someone watch the radio x interview? It's a good interview. It's in the NG LP4 Hype thread.

I still play WBTM a lot, the album has really held up. I don’t listen to HFB or CY much at all, in fact I’d drifted away from them a few months after their releases.
Move the Interlude up to after STMHTF and the album would be damn near perfect.
Also, Black and White Sunshine is massively underrated IMO. Belter live too, shame it’s been dropped from the set.

Been really dissappointed about him and his music lately. But guess I'll just move on and enjoy the good moments and songs that are left there. Still kinda hope his new album does ok, he's a good guy. but what I've been thinking about lately is all that "loyality" towards your favourite artist and felt I've been loyal enough for now. Didn't hate "the Moon" anyway but something started going at a wrong direction at that point. The tour supporting U2 and having female backing singers and all that. It's like going to a bland version of Sting or Mick Hucknall etc. It's now Chris and Gem and sometimes even the piano-player who keep it remotely interesting for me. Guess I may be an unsophisticated twat then or whatever but these are my thoughts. Cheers!

Fort Knox is the best thing he's done since going all "cosmic pop". Absolutely love it.

Ballad Of The Mighty I just came on shuffle, haven't heard it in probably about a year, so much better than what he's doing at the moment. Hell of a song.

Ex-Smoker Complex When an ex-smoker tries to save the rest of the smoker community by preaching their "born-again" non-smoker ways. Mark: Damn, James is such an asshole ever since he quit smoking last year. Dave: Yeah, I can't stand him anymore, he has an Ex-Smoker Complex. Mark: Oh shit, here he comes...
James: DID YOU KNOW THAT QUITTING SMOKE NOW YOUR HEART RATE RETURNS TO BLAGAGAHAGBLAGBLAHBLAHBARG

I think WBTM is the most solid work he's put out since Be Here Now. There's nothing I would change about that album and I hoped at the time that this was the start of a new creative peak for Noel. With these EPs I'm not too sure. Black Star Dancing was okay and I think I like This Is The Place a bit more but even so, I don't think they're that good. WBTM had "cosmic" production but also great tunes. These new songs still have the production but they're just not as well written in my opinion.
Oh and anyone saying there's no emotion on WBTM is daft. It's the most emotional album he's put out in years.

Wonder if we’ll ever get to hear Noel’s pre-Oasis acid house tunes?

I'm really enjoying what Noel is doing right now and expecting a lot of exciting and great stuff from him in the distant future. I also respect him for his refusal to reform Oasis because I think it's better to leave the Oasis legacy as it is. I was obsessed with Oasis until 2 years ago and same as Noel, I have moved on and don't listen to Oasis as much as I used to. Sometimes I would listen to the first two albums and a couple of B-sides when I miss them. Not really bother with the post-2000 albums that much apart from the singles. In fact, I found myself listening to Noel's stuff more than Oasis' stuff over the last 2 years.

I have mixed feelings about these new songs. It's not that I don't like them, they sound alright, but they really lack something that makes me want to listen to them again. They're almost forgettable to me. I just listened to This Is The Place to see how I feel about it now but I've already forgotten how the damn song even sounds.
Sail On is definitely a grower and Black Star Dancing Remix is my favourite of them all, it's got a really cool groove, but I still rarely listen to them unless they come on playlists.
When it comes to experimental music I think Noel peaked with The Right Stuff. I loved WBTM but apart from Fort Knox the album wasn't as experimental as I imagined beforehand. That's not a bad thing though, songs like She Taught Me How To Fly and Black & White Sunshine (the riff) are really catchy, but I guess I hoped a bit of psychedelia in there. These new songs are experimental but to me they aren't anything special, they're lacking certain substance that'd make them stand out.
But that's just me. I tend to be quite picky with music these days. And I decided to listen to This Is The Place again and it sounds a bit better now so who knows, maybe it could grow on me. The bass even reminds me of Blue Monday.

The bass even reminds me of Blue Monday. I get what your saying. I think these songs for them to really work, he has to take them out much much further ala the remix you mention. I do feel he is subconsciously reigning it in at times and an excellent producer would otherwise push him that bit more. But I disagree that Who Built The Moon is of a similar calibre. I do feel those songs are generally more exciting and more vibrant, probably because they’re less mid-tempo. I like Black Star Dancing and I like This Is The Place a lot more but with the latter at a current rating of 7/10, it doesn’t bode well for ‘timelessness’, whereas, for example, mere album tracks like Keep On Reaching I still prefer due to its wall of sound production (which many are not a fan of I realise) and relentless soul edged adrenaline. There’s good grooves to the new songs but like the remix, I’d like them to be a bit more colourful and multilayered. It needs a bit more madness to them which Who Built The Moon had in abundance,

What did happen to the instagram page? Looks like the record company took over and deleted almost all posts.
