You know what, I'm as supportive of Noels new venture and experimental stage as much as anyone. But don't tell me he's not realising the extreme contrast in reaction of the new stuff to the Oasis songs or even early HFB songs. Its all well and good saying he's doing what he likes now etc. But in reality people are turning up to be entertained and sing songs they love. There comes a time when you have to say this new direction might not be beneficial to anyone. Maybe not in the short term - it is debatable. But quite possibly in the long term. Another favourite band of mine (whom Noel hates) is The Beach Boys. In that band, in the mid-60s there was a division. One element, mostly Mike Love, wanted the band to stay true to its roots while the other, mostly Brian Wilson, wanted to expand into a different direction. And the fact is that Mike did indeed have a point. Brian's new direction was nowhere near as commercially successful, apart from one example, Good Vibrations. Otherwise, the albums were charting lower and eventually the band was off the charts entirely - a dramatic fall in a very short period of time for a band that had been one of the most consistently successful in American pop. And yet while Mike was correct in the short term, it's Brian's more experimental music that has, in my view, given the band a longevity and have put their band in the top-tier of acts from that time rather than in the novelty camp where they surely would have ended up if they followed Mike's desire to simply stick to the same formula. There is of course still an audience for Mike Love's version of The Beach Boys. They still play carnivals all the time - and there are many people who go to sing the big hits from the 60s. Similarly, there are also bands that can gather a crowd who play without a single original member there. However, and this is just my personal opinion, I wouldn't want to see that same sort of thing happening with Oasis or its individual members. I agree with John Lennon who said he wouldn't want to be wheeled out at 50 singing Yesterday (people aged differently back then!) and in general I don't think it does much for the music except that it keeps it alive for a small audience who for the most part wouldn't care if they were seeing it sung by anyone who actually made the music in the first place.

In a little over 3 weeks time we'll have two more brand new NG tunes and almost certainly have heard the new LG single.
Exciting times ahead.

i miss the days when noel put out meaningful music that got me through tough shit. been going through the toughest shit and noel's actively putting out new music and it means nothing. i used to latch on to his new material like it was all i had. i don't even think to listen to his stuff anymore. that sucks.

So the radio station I work for in Australia are one of the promoters for U2 and Noel's tour down under. Hoping there is a slim chance I can get to meet him when he is here which would be incredible.

Noel is really missing a trick here, he should collaborate with Taylor Swift. Would be a mega tune, of this I am sure.

I know what you mean, dead in the water is about the only tune since chasing yesterday that grabbed my attention. Purely because it was classic Noel. I was listening to the broken arrow demo yesterday and I just miss the soul in his music.

Don't get the hate for Holy Mountain and never have. It's such an infectious tune. I get that people who like Oasis are meant to be cool and beyond the pop scene, but there's something so joyful about it.
At the end of the day, we're all a bunch of sad c unts on an internet forum for a band who split up over 10 years ago. Live a little.

Idk if anyone mentioned it before: don`t you think it`s weird how both the Gallagher bros varied their musical genres recently? For example: listen to their latest singles (Shockwave and Black Star Dancing/Rattling Rose). It`s really hard to believe they once were in the same band. What`s more it makes pretty clear, the Oasis reunion isn`t likely to happen.

"Our time is on loan. All the hopes and dreams you had were left behind and taken by the storm..."
These lyrics from Sail On are 100% Noel. Powerful imagery at work.

Noel's live band is next level honestly. Solid as you can get. The musicianship is on point.

Listening to Holy Mountain at the IOW Festival.
'Good evening Isle of Wight. We are the High Flying Birds!'
Who is this guy? This isn't Noel Gallagher.

I liked when Liam went "We are Beady Eye and this aint no folk band" or some shit. Sounds daft (and I don't really know why I care), but saying 'We are the High Flying Birds' is cringe as fuck. They are band in name only. I don't tell pals that I'm going to see the 'High Flying Birds'. If Noel now sees them as part of a band then that is cool. The phrasing was just so cringe I think it gave me AIDS.

You're definitely right that his name carries more recognition.
