Magic Pie is class, Digsy's Dinner is the one that should never have seen the light of day.

First two albums Oasis could do no wrong. Everything they touched turned to gold. They were never bigger than during the build up to the release of BHN. DYKWIM came out first and was great. Id heard My Big Mouth live at Loch Lomond so i knew what to expect. The third song would be the first unheard song off the album. As I put it in my CD player and pressed play I was so excited to listen to the album. Then Magic Pie started playing and as i listened i thought to myself 'what the hell is this shit'. Hated the song ever since. It was the moment the bubble burst and Oasis became just another band to me Kinda lost interest after that and only really started getting back into them during a trip to the US prior to DOYS when I shared a apartment with a couple of guys and the only cd we had was an copy of Definitely Maybe. Good times. Still, fuck Magic Pie. Well said.

and he did say it was in his top 5 when the album was released. "cos you see me I got my magic pie" seriously? I think the chorus is alright just THAT one line.. (and should have been after track 5 for sure)

(and should have been after track 5 for sure) What truly amazes me is that he said that pre-release, while reportedly calling some BHN songs “fucking shit” at the same time. I don’t mind Magic Pie but I dont see how anyone could view it as a highlight of BHN. I guess hes not the best at predicting public reception, given that he also said Heathen Chemistry was better than WTSMG

Cool to hear that about Stand By Me; for years id said it was an undervalued classic. Great to see that its getting more popular again. And in reference to recent posts, i have a confession to make.........I am listening to Magic Pie 😂😂. 🧙♂️ 🥧

Having a listen back, and I think Going Nowhere definitely should have found a home on Be Here Now. I know people say it's too laid back for that album, but whenever I listen to the the record loud (and how else can you listen to Be Here Now?), my ears are always ready for a little rest after The Girl in the Dirty Shirt. Going Nowhere would have added more variety to album, gave everyone an easy-to-like four-minute-tune on an album which largely denies them such things, and set things up nicely for Fade In/Out to come and build on.
Also, it's just a brilliant tune. Would have won a lot of hearts and minds towards the album in '97, I reckon.

I’ve only recently have understood how important Bonehead was to the band. He acted as a bridge between Noel and Liam too, I reckon.

i wish that the solo in the DYKWIM mustique demo wasn't lost in the mix because that demo is absolute perfection

I’ve only recently have understood how important Bonehead was to the band. He acted as a bridge between Noel and Liam too, I reckon. Same if im honest. Its only when Ive seen his live performances with Liam, and how he lifts LG’s live sound, that ive fully respected his abilities as a musician. Because i wasnt a fan til after he’d gone, to me he just played rhythm guitar and that was it; I was wrong. And now ive learned more about the dynamics within the band through documentaries and youtube videos, ive realised that while he was a bit of a pisshead at times, he comes across as a likeable, approachable bloke who cares about mates. People say hes the glue that held them together in the 90s, and i believe it.

After the Gallaghers Bonehead was the most important Oasis member, ever, he was there since the very beginning and it was him who created that trademark Oasis sound even before Noel arrived, and yes he used to be the glue to link the brothers.
Tony, Alan and Guigsy were all ok, Andy always felt like the Ride guy, Gem was important cos he gave support when Noel badly needed, but Bonehead was like the heart of the band, with Noel being the brains and Liam being the soul.

Decided to take Time Flies in a car with me today and the result was that I haven't been able to stop listening to Oasis ever since the car ride

At least we finally have resolution to what originally caused the split between Oasis fans; it's "cow"

Also, Wonderwall is one of the best songs ever written, and it's no disgrace for that to be considered Oasis' top song. It's an utterly majestic piece of music that is without any faults.

Hey, Supersonic is on Netflix! Have it on blu-ray anyway, but it gave a me a buzz to see it on the front page of the most popular streaming service for films and TV, same as when I've seen it listed on terrestial television on bank holidays, etc. Hopefully, some folk who otherwise wouldn't bother watching anything to do with Oasis will give it a chance, and the band will aquire some new fans. Maybe some of them will sign up here...
By the way, the logo they went with--the Oasis typeface in orange, given a shimmering effect--is still sexy as hell.

Great podcast, I am not even kidding I’m sure there are some valid points in this video, but essentially the first thing they say is Oasis were the British Goo Goo Dolls and that it’s too complimentary to call them the Nickelback of soft rock. Their thing may very well be saying sensational shit for attention, but I had to shut it off because my thing is to stay as far away from uninformed idiocy as possible.
