If you're in a band it's not always good news when you hear that Liam or Noel Gallagher is in the room watching you play. When it comes to musical contemporaries of the combative duo from the now defunct Oasis, the hapless singers and bands are more likely to get trashed, abused and filed away as "that fat dancer from Take That" (Robbie Williams) or "he looks like Zorro on doughnuts" (Jack White). However, Australian band Holy Holy got more than lucky recently during their European tour. Liam Gallagher turned up to their sold out London show and didn't just shut up and listen but went backstage to tell them they were "the best band I've seen in years" and he thought their album was "brilliant" (actually he probably said "fookin' brilliant" knowing him). Even better, Gallagher was overheard by at least one publication which meant the reports of the praise couldn't be dismissed as the wishful thinking of a tired and emotional band working their debut album, When The Storms Would Come. www.smh.com.au/entertainment/music/liam-gallagher-shocks-holy-holy-backstage-in-london-20151111-gkwc14.html

The tune in the article sounded pleasant. Genuinely interesting video too. Not often you see one.

The song itself wasn't bad at all, I love how it grows near the ending. I'll definitely check out more from them.

What a really beautiful song that was, and likewise, I thought the video was equally encapsulating.
It looks as if Liam's spot on with this one. A great great find.

Yoooo shameless plug - I wrote the review for the E-Zine. www.live4ever.uk.com/2015/11/album-review-holy-holy-when-the-storms-would-come/A gorgeous album. I'd say there's 3 really sublime tracks on it - Sentimental And Monday, History and Pretty Strays For Hopeless Lovers. Debut album rarely sound as assured as this one does. My only worry is where do they go to from here? The sonic textures keep it from being too MOR. This is one of the years best surprises.

Every time I ask my old man what he wants for Christmas/birthday, he always says how he like to discover new music, so I thought bugger it, I'll just get him this (and Marr's new live album - any good?). Bought it on Amazon, so could download it with their Prime music thing. Thought I'd have a quick listen, check it's not actually shit. Put it on whilst I was doing some work, and I ended up listening to it through two or three times. It really is quite divine. I'd encourage folk to buy their own copy if they have a little spare time and money.
Will need a few more listens, but so far I really like the sound of A Heroine.

Bugger, with the title I was hoping it was Liam and the Pope with his entourage in a style along the lines of his Q shoot back in 1999 Can't find the great pic from the same shoot where he is in a jesus style gown and sandals talking about spirituality- one of the more stranger episodes of Q

Inadvertently recommending this band to us all is the best thing Liam's done since he recorded the vocals for Lyla.

I've listened to the album and to their EP from last year, which is basically everything they've ever recorded. They are genuinely good, and probably the most interesting band I've discovered in the last few months. They haven't got any crap song and they manage to get a nearly unique sound: the singer's vocals are very distinctive and guitar work is superb (I definitely hear some Johnny Marr-inspired arpeggios here and there). Cast's review of the album is great too. I'm quite surprised to see that Liam's a fan of this band, to be honest. Maybe he's finally moved on from the stale '60s sound? Anyway, I really have to thank him for this awesome discovery, it made my week.

When I first heard Sentimental and Monday, it seemed too soft for Liam- I've mellowed, but not in the sense of liking Radiohead or Coldplay-Gallagher, but then on further listens, you start to hear the Marr-esque guitar work that you pointed out, and some of the quite clever lyrics, and it doesn't seem odd at all. The only real shocker with Liam, for me in recent years, was when I found out he was a raging Snoop Doggy Dogg fan! Along with other nineties hip-hop artists... MC L. Galla-gizzle in the house! Now THAT is surprising...

Or did I dream that?

Sorry to burst the bubble peeeps but i am not sure if Liam really said/means that quote. Holy Holy are on FEAR PR'S books who are Liam's lady Debbie and her twin sister's company: www.embracethefear.co.uk/. Marketing spin using Liam's name to promote their album no doubt-which admittedly is good on further inspection.

Does that woman seriously only have one trick for promoting things? i.e. get Liam Gallagher's name in the papers, alongside another client's as well where necessary? Thanks for the link though, wondered what she has been doing since leaving/getting sacked by Quest Management (depending on whose version you believe)
