Listening to Adele and Oasis can cause 'skin orgasms', experts claim
Experts have claimed that listening to music such as Adele, Oasis and Celine Dion can cause a phenomenon dubbed as 'skin orgasms'. A new paper by psychologist and musician Psyche Loui and Luke Harrison, a student from Wesleyan University, claims that music "has a unique power to elicit moments of intense emotional and psychophysiological response". "These moments – termed “chills,” “thrills”, “frissons,” etc. – are subjects of introspection and philosophical debate, as well as scientific study in music perception and cognition," the paper - titled 'Thrills, chills, frissons, and skin orgasms: toward an integrative model of transcendent psychophysiological experiences in music' - adds. In a BBC article on the phenomenon, songs like Adele's 'Someone Like You', Oasis' 'Wonderwall' and Celine Dion's 'My Heart Will Go On' are listed as examples that can create what they call 'skin orgasms'. "Sudden changes in harmony, dynamic leaps (from soft to loud), and melodic appoggiaturas (dissonant notes that clash with the main melody, like you’ll find in Adele’s Someone Like You) seem to be particularly powerful," BBC's David Robson writes. www.nme.com/news/adele/87249

Ha, just read that too. Awesome. Wonderwall always has that goosebumps effect on me when the mellotron kicks in.

First time i heard Roll With It was live from Glastonbury. I had the skin orgasm stuff during it. Then again, most Oasis songs around that time I'd get it. Strange as later Oasis gave me chills of terror!

If you live alone, drink enough booze smoke enough weed, play tunes out fucking loud in a proper high session and you'll get eargasms from that. Even from Heathen Chemistry yeah.

I wonder if loving music can count as an addiction?

Oh. At first I thought the NME had started touching themselves to MG in order to attract more publicity for a reunion.

Oh. At first I thought the NME had started touching themselves to MG in order to attract more publicity for a reunion. The joyous imagery of Conor McNicholas or whoever the hell is in charge there these days performing an act upon themselves...put me right of my cream filled donut for some reason

Oasis has a very dangerous effect on me. If I hear Oasis in a club I want to put my arms around or punch complete strangers. I would never drive under the influence of Oasis. I would smash my car to fuck listening to the Hindu Times

My mom laughs at me because she always finds me with an "oh my god this is amazing" expression when I have my headphones on. And then when I realize it, I react as if I was just caught with my pants off or something.
